Donna Joanne (Blanton) Mundy, 79

Donna Joanne (Blanton) Mundy, 79, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2021, at Hancock Regional Hospital, with family by her side.

 

She was born on September 23, 1942, in Indianapolis, IN, to Donald Benjamin and Hildreth (MacIntyre) Blanton.

 

She attended Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis. On December 24, 1959, she married her love, David Frederick Mundy, as he was on leave from the Army.

Donna was a stay-at-home wife and mother as well as a beautician. She loved to work with flowers creating wreathes, indoor table arrangements, as well as cemetery arrangements. She also sewed clothing, mainly her husband’s work shirts. While attending church, Donna was on the Praise and Worship Dance Team. She enjoyed playing the dulcimer. She loved animals. She cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Daily, she and Fred went to Star Bucks and became quite the staple with the staff. Donna and Fred attended Brandywine Community Church.

Donna is survived by her loving husband Fred of 62 years; their children: LaDonna (Steven) Hicks and Elizabeth (Wade) Kennedy; their awesome grandchildren: Hailee (James) Herin, Taylor (Evan) Matlock, Savanah Giddings, and Caleb Giddings (Lynne Crouse); two adorable great-grandchildren: Evelynn Biehl and Brooks Matlock; and sister, Jane (Mike) Elson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Gina Burnett; and siblings: Bobby Jane Johnson, Darrell Deck, Ruth Smith, Marlene Brinkman, and Fred Blanton.

The Mundy family would like to deeply thank the staff and doctors at Suburban Hospice for their exceptional care, support, and love extended to Donna as well as themselves and to the staff at the local Star Bucks for knowing, accepting, and loving Donna and Fred on their daily journeys.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 16, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, with the funeral immediately following, officiated by Pastor Doug Hardy.

 

Burial will follow in GlenCove Cemetery, Knightstown, IN.
