Robert 'Bob' E. Toon, 91, a lifetime member of Shelby Co

Robert ‘Bob’ E. Toon, 91, a lifetime member of Shelby Co., passed away Thursday, December 16, 2021 at his residence.

  He was born December 19, 1929 to Clifford and Lula (Schilling) Toon.  On May 18, 1957, he married Norma Jean Moore and she preceded him in death on February 15, 2010

  Bob worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk for 24 years, until retiring in 1989.  He was a member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion Post 70, and lifetime member of the VFW.  He loved to play cards and tennis, in which he played well into his 80’s.  Bob was an avid bowler, and was inducted into the Shelby County Bowling Association Hall of Fame; he also received a 35 year plague from the American Bowling Congress (ABC). Bob was a Korean War Veteran, serving for the U.S. Army where he earned the rank of Corporal.

  Bob is survived by his sons, Steven (Carol) Bullard, James ‘Punk’ R. Bullard (Vicki Danek), Bobby G. (Sandy) Toon, and Danny R. (Brenda) Toon, daughters, Sandi L. White (John Spurling), 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren. 

  He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers, Elbert and Donald Toon, daughter, Linda Bullard Gerstner, and daughter-in-law, Kathy Bullard.

 Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN.

  Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, December 20, 2021 at the funeral home.

  Burial will be to follow in Forest Hill Cemetery with full Military Honor’s conducted by the local American Legion Post 70 Memorial Team.

  Funeral Directors Greg, Sheila, and Stuart Parks are honored to serve Bob’s family.
