Robert E. "B.B." Bayne 93, former Shelbyville resident

Robert E. "B.B." Bayne 93, former Shelbyville resident, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Community South Hospital.

 

Born August 2, 1928 in Akron Ohio, he was the son of Ramey Edward Bayne and Jessie Vetruse (McClain) Bayne.  He married Ruth (Coffey) Bayne on July 21, 1947 and she preceded him on January 10, 2016.

 

Survivors include 4 sons- David E. Bayne (wife Joyce) of Georgia, Danny L. Bayne of Shelbyville, Donald J. Bayne of California, Dennis E. Bayne (wife Teresa) of Greenwood; 2 sisters- Joy Marie Maltby of Taylorsville, Illinois, Judy VanArsdale of Washington; 7 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.   He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers- Donald E. Bayne, James M. Bayne, and a sister- Josephine Bird.

 

Mr. Bayne had lived in this area since 1952, after moving from Illinois.  He was an auto mechanic with Shelbyville Motors for 36 years, Gary Shore Ford for 2 years, and after that had been a cafeteria custodian at Shelbyville High School for a time. 

 

He graduated high school in Mason City, Illinois, attended Hope's Point Baptist Church, was a lifetime member of American Legion, a lifelong member of VFW, a member of the FOP, and AARP.  He was a US Army and a US Navy veteran.

 

B.B. enjoyed riding his motorcycle, camping and traveling, collecting and building electric trains, and working on cars.

 

Funeral services will be 12:00 noon, Monday, January 10, 2022 with Rev. David Humphrey officiating.

 

Burial will be in Winchester Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday morning from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion.

 

Memorial contributions can be made to American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
