Joseph E. Buening, 84, of St. Paul

Joseph E. Buening, 84, of St. Paul,  passed away  January 29, 2022 at Our Hospice facility in Columbus.

 

Born July 9, 1937, in Letts, IN, he was the son of George Buening and 

Helen (Roell) Buening..  He married JoAnn (Colson) Buening on April 22, 1958 and she survives. 

Other survivors include 9 children: Juanita "Dee" Ann  Rogers (Keith) of St. Paul; Rebecca Buening of Indianapolis; Janice Buening of Indianapolis; Tim Buening of St. Paul;  Mary Linville (Dan) of Morristown; Helen Ramsey (Mike) of St. Paul; Patricia Stevens of Waldron; George Buening (Rebecca) of Indianapolis;  and Kathleen McGuire (Ed) of Indianapolis. He is also survived by 6 siblings : Mildred Busch of Greensburg; Philip Buening of Greensburg; Robert Buening of Indianapolis; 

Ruth Buening of Indianapolis; John Buening of Shelbyville; and Jerome Buening of St. Paul. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Alvin, Don, and Raymond Buening. 

 

Mr. Buening was a lifelong resident of this area. He was an engineer at Rogers Engineering of Cambridge City for 22 years and GE/Wellman for 36 years. He graduated from St. Francis Seminary High School in Cincinnati, Ohio and was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church. 

 

Joe loved to travel and cruise with large groups of family and friends. He enjoyed large family get- togethers at his house. All his children and grandchildren played sports, and he and JoAnn followed them all.  He had fond memories of camping, and he loved playing dominoes. 

 

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 2:00 PM at St. Vincent Catholic Church, with Rev. Mike Keucher officiating. 

 

Burial will be in St. Vincent Cemetery.

 

Friends may call on Friday evening, February 4, 2022 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, from 4:00pm until 8:00 pm.  Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm at the funeral home.

 

Memorial contributions can be made to the Hemophilia Foundation or St. Vincent Catholic Church, in care of the funeral home.
