Virginia Mohler Ensminger, 98, of Shelbyville

Virginia Mohler Ensminger, 98, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022 after a short stay at Ashford Place.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Ensminger;  her parents, Fred and Edgardean (McMath) Mohler; a son Maurice "Budd" Ensminger, daughter Janice Daffron; and 3 siblings.  She is survived by her daughter Mary Margaret Garnett; sister Iris Ashby; 3 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

 

Virginia lived in the Rush/Shelby County area her entire life, graduating from New Salem High School. She worked at Jester's on the square until the Belaire Shopping Center opened and then worked at J.C.Penney until her retirement.

She and Wade raised and raced standardbred horses for many years. Virginia attended the Rays Crossing CU Church

and was a 50+year member of the Milroy Order of the Eastern Star and an honorary member of the Fairland Chapter.

Virginia enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, playing cards, and raising and racing horses.

 

Funeral services will be, 2:00 pm, Monday, February 7, 2022 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Rd, with Pastor Keith Dover officiating. 

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. Eastern Star rites will be observed at 1:30 pm, before the funeral service.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations  be made to Michael J. Fox Foundation, for Parkinson's Disease, or the charity of your choice, in care of the funeral home.

 

The family also asks that you follow Covid protocol by wearing a mask.
