Jeffrey Alan Harris, age 69, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022.
Jeff was born March 20, 1952, in Gary, Indiana to the late Dwaun and Joan (Beck) Harris. He was a graduate of Greenfield Central High School and graduated barbering school shortly thereafter.
Jeff married ConnieJo (Hurst) on October 20, 1974. Together they made their home and raised their family in Greenfield. Jeff was committed to his community and quietly served on many boards and committees for years. He was a longtime member of Greenfield Christian Church serving on the property committee, as a trustee and deacon and the pastor search committee. Jeff was an avid Greenfield Central High School Athletic Booster and served on the Class of 1970 graduation committee. He was inducted into the GCHS Alumni Hall of Fame in 2018. He was also a member of F&AM 101 Masonic Lodge.
Jeff enjoyed serving on the board of directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Hancock County. He actively coached baseball and softball and started GFSA. He was a long-time member of Rotary Club of Greenfield and always volunteered to be the “Grill Master” for the clubs annual Steak & Bake & Raffle. He had a passion for dogs and raised AKC German Shepherds and taught dog obedience classes for many years.
Most will remember Jeff as the longtime owner operator of Ye Olde Head Shoppe Salon and Spa. He was named the “Businessman of the Year” by the Greenfield Chamber of Commerce in 2006.
Jeff knew everyone and will long be remembered for his “Jeffism’s” like, “Hey, I know a guy” or “I’m not an expert, but.” He was one to avoid modern technology but did love his oldies and rock and roll music!
Jeff is survived by his wife ConnieJo Harris; children, Cameron (Kayce) Harris and Mallory (Brandon) Tormoehlen; grandchildren, Axl and Ava Harris and Carolina Tormoehlen; stepmother, Marilyn (John) Hutchinson; half-sister, Stacey (Kenny) McNeeley; and his beloved dogs, Roxie, and Rudy.
He is preceded in death by his parents mentioned above.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Greenfield Christian Church, 23 N. East Street, Greenfield, Indiana 46140 with Rev. Merlyn Winters officiating.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held until 7:00 pm immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
