Timothy Dale Chambers, 72, of Greenfield

Timothy Dale Chambers, 72, of Greenfield, IN, passed away on February 18th, 2022, after a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s.

Tim was born on August 14th, 1949, to Thomas Richard “Dick” and Gracie Marie (Slavens) Chambers in Terre Haute, IN. He was raised on a chicken farm near Terre Haute, IN. After high school, he attended Franklin Bible College and Rose Poly Technical Institute. In 1969 he joined the United States Marine Corps, reaching the rank of Sergeant. During his enlistment, he was in the Red Devils air squadron and stationed in Japan. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Rifle Marksmanship Badge.

While stationed in Jacksonville, Florida he met Dorothy Taylor. They wed in 1971 and had 2 daughters – Lisa Marie and Debra Lynn – and were married for over 50 years.

After his service, he graduated in 1977 from Rose Polytechnic Institute. He worked as a mechanical engineer for numerous aeronautical companies including Pratt & Whitney, Rolls-Royce, and Belcan, and worked on many airplanes, including the Boeing 737, F-16, F-22, and the F-35.

Throughout his life, he enjoyed airplanes and racing. He spent numerous evenings on the racetrack with his brother, Joe, driving a push truck for sprint cars. He was known for saying “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do” which was fine, because he did nearly everything. He was a Girl Scout Dad, Nazarene church member, EMT, an avid roller skater (he met Dorothy after an accident on the rink floor), storyteller, shopper, golfer, fisherman, boater, omelet cook, and a tone-deaf singer.
