Alberta M. Jackley, 85, of Greenfield

Alberta M. Jackley, 85, of Greenfield, passed away peacefully May 5, 2022, at Morristown Manor, Morristown.

 

She was born August 20, 1936, in Greenfield to the late Sheldon and Louise (Wickliff) Young.

 

Alberta graduated from Maxwell High School. She married Melvin Jackley on July 17, 1955, and together they made their home and raised their family in Greenfield.

 

After high school, she began her 43-year tenure with Greenfield Banking Company in the bookkeeping department and retired in 1995 as a loan officer.

Alberta was a lifelong member of the Eastern Star, a member of the Red Hat Society, Kiwanis, and Psi Iota Xi sorority. She played the French horn in high school and in later years played the piano and the dulcimer. Alberta and her family enjoyed boating at Lake Tippecanoe beginning in 1956 and continued until 2012. She and Melvin enjoyed winters in Florida from 1995 until 2017. She was a good cook and always enjoyed meeting new people.

She is survived by her husband, Melvin of Greenfield; children, Debbie (John) Schlumbohm, Gary “Mark” Jackley, Donald (Becky) Jackley, and Dean (Theresa) Jackley; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be held 1:00 pm, Tuesday, May 10, 2022, with Pastor Steve Ellis officiating at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, Indiana 46140.

 

Friends may call from 11:00 am until the time of service.
