James "Jim" Russell Leclercq, 87, of Shelbyville

James “Jim” Russell Leclercq, 87, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022 at his residence.

  He was born February 5, 1935 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Russell Leclercq and Pauline (Davis) Leclercq.

He married Martha “Elaine” (Hoffman) Leclercq on August 20, 1960 and she preceded him in death on October 3, 2014. They spent 54 wonderful years together. 

  He served in the US Army in the Korean War. Jim was a hardworking man who loved his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and just being outdoors. He attended Bengal Christian Church and West Street United Methodist Church.

 Together, he and his wife, Elaine started their own businesses. They owned and operated Jim and Elaine’s Market, DX Service Station, and then Dependable Tree Service. In 1974 they started Jim’s Roofing and Sons and it is still a family business today.

Along with Jim’s wife, he is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, and 1 sister.

 Jim is survived by his sons; Mark Leclercq, Jamie Leclercq (wife, Zoann), Jerrie Leclercq (wife, Dawn), Kevin Leclercq, daughter, Kathy Cooper (husband, Rusty), grandchildren; Nicole Frisbie, Cody Craig, Sara Craig, Josh Leclercq, Jessica Leclercq, Justin Leclercq, Jenna Leclercq, Justin Baltch, Starlene Hoff, Fawntay Cooper, Travis Cooper, Kyle Cooper, Sheena Cooper, along with 31 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild.

  Visitation will be Friday, September 9, 2022 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

 Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2022 at the funeral home with Pastor Andy Lee officiating.

  Burial will be in Miller Cemetery.

  Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks, Stuart Parks, and Darin Schutt are honored to serve Jim’s family.
