June L. (Perry) Thurston, 76, of Shelbyville

June L. (Perry) Thurston, 76, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2022 at her residence.

Born October 22, 1945 in Decatur County, she was the daughter of Floyd William Perry and Fannie Ethel (Harrison) Perry.  She married Richard M. Thurston on May 29, 1964, and he survives.

Other survivors include a daughter- Michelle Klepper (husband Michael) of Morristown; several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews; 2 grandchildren- Kirsten Klepper-Byrnes (husband Brice) of Morristown, Erica Klepper of Indianapolis; and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers- Bill, Jimmie, John & Gene Perry, a sister  Ula Perry Greene, and a great granddaughter Jazzilyn Jenkins.

Mrs. Thurston had lived in the St. Paul and Shelbyville areas her entire lifetime and graduated from Waldron High School. She also had 2 years of accounting studies at  vocational school. She had been employed with GE/Wellman's for 5 years, was a self employed daycare provider for 30 years, and was a cafeteria worker with Shelby Central  Schools for 8 years.  She was a past
member of Flat Rock Christian Church, and a current member of West St. United Methodist Church, a member of American Legion Women's Auxiliary, a member of the Moose Lodge, where she
held multiple offices, a member of Dad's Nite Inn Home Ec  group, a coach/manager of Knauf Fiber Glass girl's slow pitch softball teams in multiple brackets as well as Charlie's Angels T Ball
team, a Girl Scout and Brownie leader, and was Treasurer of Boot Scooters Dance Club. June enjoyed arts and crafts, ceramics, and watching sports.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Rd. with Pastor Robert Keck and Faye Stickford officiating.  Burial will be in Boggstown Cemetery.  Friends may call on Tuesday evening, October 25, 2022, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made to the West Street United Methodist Church choir or organ fund, or OUR Hospice of South Central Indiana, in care of the funeral home.
