Steven B. “Steve” Leonard, 62, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at his residence surrounded by family.
He was born August 17, 1960 in Greenfield, Indiana to Donald & Margaret (Kingery) Leonard.
Steve graduated from Greenfield-Central High School in 1978 and graduated from Indiana Vocational Technical College in 1986 with a degree in industrial drafting. He retired from Eli Lilly in 2018 after 38 years of service. He was presently serving as Center Township Trustee and as the Chairman of the Hancock County Republican Party. In addition, he was a Republican precinct committeeman and member of the Board of the Riley Old Home Society. His previous service includes: the Center Township Board, Operation Round-Up Board, and several times as a delegate to the Republican State Convention.
He was a former member of Calvary Bible Church and currently a member of Fortville Church of the Nazarene. He held leadership positions at both churches, including: church board, Sunday school superintendent, and athletic ministries director.
Above all of his service, he prioritized his time with his family. He cherished his wife, Janet, and together they enjoyed traveling to several different countries and 49 of the 50 states. He enjoyed attending sporting and other events with his friends and family, but his favorite events to attend were ones in which his grandchildren performed. He enjoyed playing golf with his sons. He generously gave of his time coaching his children, and countless others, in various sports throughout the years.
He is survived by his wife Janet (Wiley) Leonard who he married July 7, 1979, father, Donald (Dorris) Leonard, sons, Steven Brent Leonard II, Bryan (Kristen) Leonard, daughter, Kimberly (Adam) Roberts, sister, Donna (Mike) Greenwood, grandchildren, Trevor Leonard, Allison Leonard, Emilie Roberts, Owen Roberts, all of Greenfield, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret (Kingery) Leonard.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 13, 2022 from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, 1780 W. Main Street, Greenfield, IN 46140. Funeral service will be 11:00 am Monday, November 14, 2022 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Greenfield, Indiana.
