Joan Jean Pile, 91, of Shelbyville

Joan Jean Pile, 91, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, November 21, 2022 at Ashford Place.

 

Born November 12, 1931 in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Leonard Bland and Maud (Woods) Bland.   She married Kenneth Richard Pile on June 29, 1952 and he preceded her in 2017.

 

Survivors include a son John Richard Pile (wife Deborah) of Shelbyville; a niece Marlene Muldoon of Edinburgh; 3 grandchildren- Valerie Wilkins (husband John) of Shelbyville, Matthew Pile (Laurie Franasiak) of Florida, Leann Boldery (husband Cory) of Shelbyville; 5 great grandchildren- Blaise Wilkins, Lexi Wilkins, Jesse Wilkins, Zoe McGuire, Zuri Boldery; 3 step great grandchildren- David Boldery, Ethan Boldery, and Camden Franasiak. 

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, and her twin sister Joyce Muldoon.

 

Mrs. Pile was a lifelong resident of this area, and graduated from Mt. Auburn High School in 1949.  She was secretary for Southwestern Schools for 28 1/2 years, retiring in 1993.  She attended Shelbyville Bible Holiness Church. Joan loved watching old movies, and working with and collecting artificial flowers.  She was especially close to her twin sister Joyce.

 

Funeral services will be 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Pastor Joseph Smith officiating. 

 

Burial will be in Miller Cemetery. 

 

Friends may call on Saturday morning from 10:00 am until the  time of the service, at the funeral home.

 

Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of the donor's choice, in care of the funeral home.
