Ralph E. Baker, 88, of Manilla

Ralph E. Baker, 88, of Manilla, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022 at MHP Medical Center.

Born February 5, 1934 in Indianapolis, he was the son of Arthur Eugene Baker and Marie Anna-Amanda (Grahn) Baker. He married Carolyn J. (Schwier) Baker on May 25, 1958 and she preceded him on September 14, 2009.

Survivors include 4 children - Christina Ramey of Shelbyville, Gary Baker of Rushville, Edward Baker (Judith) of Waldron, Jessica Wickizer (Keith) of Manilla; 7 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse, brother Gene Baker and 2 sisters- Peggy Ewing and Patricia Smith.

Mr. Baker had lived in this area since 1960 after previously living in Indianapolis. He was a production supervisor for Culligan Water Protection in Indianapolis  for 16 years, retiring in 1990, and also worked at Bentum Press in Indy for 22 years. Ralph graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in 1953 and was a member of Zion Christian Church. Ralph enjoyed volunteering with Rush County Players, gardening, yard work, and attending cake decorating conventions with his late wife, Carolyn.

Funeral services will be 12:00 noon, Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Rd, with Cindy Gastel officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call on Tuesday morning from 10:00 am until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions  can be made to National Kidney Foundation or Gentiva Hospice in care of the funeral home.
