Virginia Lee (Gatewood) Knoy, recently of Greenfield, passed away just short of her 95 birthday, on January 18, 2023, at Hancock Regional Health, Greenfield.

She was born January 20, 1928, in Shelby County, Indiana to the late Thomas and May Gatewood.

Virginia was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who dearly loved spending time with her family. A homemaker at heart, she enjoyed cooking, baking, and hosting family gatherings. Virginia was a caring and generous woman and never missed a family member’s birthday. She was an enthusiastic storyteller, delighted in plants and flowers, and generously supported many charities.

She is survived by her children: Carolyn (Paul) Ackerman, Drew Webb, Janet Skehan, and Margo (Philip) Lauer; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents; the father of her children, Marvin Ellison Webb; grandson, Scott Ackerman; son-in-law, Mark Thomas Skehan; and her many siblings.

Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, has been entrusted with arrangements.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, 9350 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana.
