Charles Francis Quilleon, 85, of Seymour

Quilleon, Charles Francis, 85, of Seymour, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.

 

He was born on June 26, 1937, in Danville, Illinois, the middle son of Gerald and Arlene Quilleon, and moved with his father’s coaching stops in Gessie, Lagro and Pike Township before finally landing for an extended stay in Columbus, Indiana. 

 

He graduated from Columbus High School in 1955 and attended and played football at Butler University.  After leaving Butler, Charlie served in active and reserve duty in the United States Navy for six years . 

 

In 1960 while back in his hometown of Columbus, he met and married Ruth Beatson. 

 

Charlie eventually took a position with Farm Bureau Insurance in 1974 and managed the agencies in Scott and Jackson County through 1995. 

 

Charlie and Ruth also owned Favorite Things in Seymour and Brick Street Sampler in Salem. 

 

Charlie was a proud member of the Jackson Masonic Lodge #146, First United Methodist Church of Seymour and remained a supporter of Butler University athletics.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Arlene; his older brother John, and his middle daughter, Kimberly.  Charlie is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Ruth; his daughters Pamela Anderson (husband Jeff) and Catherine Brown (husband Doug), four grandchildren Gregg Greaves (wife, Ashley), Laura Wheat (husband, Josh), Mitch Brown and Julia Brown, his great grandchildren, Charlie Greaves, Tommy Greaves, Aiden Greaves,  and Madelynn Wheat, his sister Mary Knulf and several nieces and nephews.

 

Services will be held at Voss and Sons Funeral Service, Seymour, Indiana on Saturday, March 18 with visitation from 9:00 A.M. to noon and service to follow. 

 

Military Honors will be held at the graveside following funeral service.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Seymour and Schneck Medical Home and Hospice.
