It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sharon S. (Oberle) Ross, 80, of Shelbyville, on Thursday, March 16, 2023. Sharon passed peacefully and comfortably, surrendering to pneumonia, COPD, and lung cancer at Franciscan Health in Greenwood, IN.
Sharon was born Sharon Sue Oberle on 10/26/1942 in Maine to Virginia and Eugene Oberle. After moving to Indianapolis as an infant, Sharon graduated from Warren Central High School, then studied at Ball State University. She briefly wed Buddy Magee and was blessed with Mike and Tammy, then divorced. While raising two infants and working at RCA in downtown Indianapolis, Sharon met her soul mate and the love of her life, Jim Ross. They wed on June 5th, 1971.
In 1980, the family moved to Shelbyville, Indiana where they owned Mark Concrete Products. Sharon worked in the front office, doing all the scheduling and financials. In the 1980’s, Sharon managed her own business, The Booketeria, owing to her passion for reading.
Sharon was involved in several groups and organizations, including Zonta, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Order of Turtles.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 52 yrs. Jim, daughter, Tammy, and sons, Mike and Jamie, in addition to 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Eugene and Virginia Oberle, and brother, Jon Oberle.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 15th, 2023 at 11:00 am at the American Legion Post 70 in Shelbyville, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations can be made in Sharon’s name to the Jacoby Foundation.
