Kay F. Phelps, 74, of Shelbyville

Kay F. Phelps, 74, of Shelbyville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at OUR Hospice Inpatient Facility, after a long battle with dementia, surrounded by her family.

Born December 16, 1948 in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Ernest Chancy and Delphia (Nolley) Chancy. She married Roger Dale Phelps on December 30, 1966 and he survives. Other survivors include 3 children- Michael Phelps of Shelbyville, Roger Phelps (wife Michelle) of Boggstown, Corina Fix (husband Brad) of Shelbyville; 4 siblings- Bert Chancy (wife Glenda) of Shelbyville, Victor Chancy of Shelbyville, Louann Chancy (husband Gary) of Texas, Rita Ringler (husband Gary) of Spencer; 10 grandchildren-  Joshua Kredit-Phelps (wife Kirsten), Devin Fix, Shawna Kitchin (husband Craig), Kylie Smothers ((husband Tyler), Brayton Phelps, Bailey Fix, Hunter Phelps, Carson Phelps, Keegan Phelps, Gage Phelps; and 5 great grandchildren- Arya, Zayne, Ellie, Ayda, and JoElla.  She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Verna Chancy, 2 brothers- Larry Chancy, Norman Chancy, and a great grandson Jaxton Kitchin.

Mrs. Phelps was a lifelong resident of this area, and attended Shelbyville High School. She had been a factory worker at Overhead Door Corp. in Shelbyville, retiring after several years of service. Kay enjoyed playing Scrabble, gardening, decorating for Christmas, and spending time with her family.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Monday, May 1 ,2023 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Pastor Seth Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday evening, April 30, 2023 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, or OUR Hospice of South Central Indiana, in care of the funeral home.
