Stephen D. Clark, 89, of Shelbyville

Stephen D. Clark, 89, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday May 3, 2023 surrounded by his family at his residence.

  He was born August 31, 1933 in Grayson, KY to Russell Clark and Clarice (Maggard) Clark and was raised in Logan, West Virginia.

  He married Mary “Ruth” (Vickers) Clark on October 11, 1952 and they were blessed to have spent 68 wonderful years together before she preceded him in death on January 27, 2021.

  Stephen made a career in banking for 33 years before retiring in 1988 as Senior Vice President at Bank One in Indianapolis, formerly known as AFNB. He earned his master’s degree in 1987 from Century University in Los Angeles.  He continued on to earn his PhD in business in 1989.

  Stephen honorably served in the United States Marine Corps from January of 1951 to December of 1953, including one year served in Korea. He received the Korean Service Metal with two battle stars. He was a member of Blue Ridge Christian Union Church since 1984 and also attended Mount Pisgah Baptist Church for 2 years. He was also a member of Four Wheels to Freedom Club for many years. Stephen became a Freemason in April of 1980 and years later he served as Master Mason in Indianapolis.

  Stephen is survived by his daughters, Karen (husband Rod) Dickmann of Shelbyville, Doris (husband Kris) Martin of Shelbyville; daughter-in-law, Erin Clark of Ft. Wayne; grandchildren, Ryan Piercy, Tiffany Junken, Jessica Fisher, Shawn Clark, Brandon Clark, Katelynn Armstrong Pogue; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson due in September; brothers, Fred (wife, Betty) Clark, Paul (wife, Patty) Clark, Ron Clark, Russell (wife, Jean) Clark; sisters, Lana (husband, Doug) Harless, Annie (husband, Ernest) Marcum, Lorie (husband, Marcell) Schkud.

  He was preceded in death by parents and wife, son David Clark, and nephew, Timothy Clark.

  Visitation will be Monday May 8, 2023 from 10 a.m. to noon at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

 Funeral services will follow at noon with Dr. Robb Barlow and Nick Coulston officiating. Masonic rites will be conducted at the start of the service at the funeral home.

  Burial will be in the Hero’s of Honor and Glory section at Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens, 625 Progress Rd., Shelbyville, IN. 46176, with military rites conducted by our local veteran organizations.
