Ramissa Safar, 67, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2023, at AMG Specialty Hospital in Greenfield.
She was born August 25, 1955, in Beirut, Lebanon, the daughter of Safar and Soumaya (Attallah) Safar.
Ramissa is survived by her sons, Jassin Jouria and wife, Kelly, of Shelbyville, Jonathan Bulla and wife, Amy, of Seattle, Washington, and Justin Zakhary of Shelbyville; daughter, Jessica “Cat” Powell, and husband, Travis, of Ackworth, Georgia; a nephew whom she loved like a son, Shadi Safar of Lodi, New Jersey; brother, Aziz Safar and wife, Maryse, of Garnerville, New York; grandchildren, Lilliana, Noelle, Luke, Maxwell, Logan and Ezra; the father of her children and life partner, Jassin Jouria Sr. of Shelbyville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Ricardo Safar and Rassim Safar.
Ramissa was a member of the Virgin Mary Church in Paramus, New Jersey.
She received her Master’s degree in Psychology from Upsala College in New Jersey.
Ramissa loved animals and leaves behind her dogs, Bibo and Ella.
She enjoyed spending time with her family. Ramissa also enjoyed cooking, gardening and sewing.
Private graveside services will be held at Washington Cemetery in Paramus, New Jersey.
Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
