 John Thomas Crowe, 70, of Shelbyville

 John Thomas Crowe, 70, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday June 25, 2022 at his residence.

 

He was born May 14, 1952 in Connersville, Indiana to Gilbert Crowe and Anna Mae (Brockman) Crowe. 

 

John graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1970.

 

He was employed at Freudenberg/IPC and retired after 47 years of service.

 

He was a member of Shelbyville Community Church.

 

John had a love for traveling and vacationing with his wife. He also loved gardening. John enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s sporting events and cheering them on. His greatest joy came from spending time with family and loved ones.

 

John married Linda Diane (Conner) Crowe on May 19, 1997, spending 25 wonderful years together and she survives.

  

John is also survived by his son, Bryan Crowe (Danielle), son, Jeremy Crowe (Nerissa), daughter, Amber Duerstock (Tim), son, Dustin Crowe (Melissa), step-daughter, Rhonda Wright (Jimmy), step-daughter, Rebecca Hash (Jill), step-son Timothy Hash (Brandy), 22 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, sister, Billie Gore (Robin), sister, Bobbie Sandefur, sister, Jackie Owens (Ron), sister, Terri Dusenbury (Barry) along with several nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his parents, great granddaughter, Madison Jo Badgley, brothers, Sonny Crowe, Oscar Crowe, Jerry Crowe, and brother-in-law, Rick Sandefur.

 

Visitation will be held Thursday June 30, 2022 from 3pm until 6pm at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

 

Funeral services will follow with Pastor Andy Lee and Brother Bobby Conner officiating.

 

Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks, Stuart Parks, and Darin Shutt are honored to serve John’s family.

Hugh E. John, 88, of Greenfield

Hugh E. John, 88, of Greenfield, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2022.

 

Born on November 25, 1933, in Shelby County, he was the son of George B. John and Geraldine (Phares) John. He graduated from Morristown High School in 1952.

 

Hugh served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On October 19, 1954, he married Virginia Lou Brown in New Palestine. Before retiring in 1993, Hugh worked for Eli Lilly as a technician for 32 years. He was a member at Greenfield Christian Church.

 

Hugh is survived by his children, Michael John (Dee) of Greenfield and Gail Levering (Rich) of Greenfield; grandchildren, Jeremy, Carrie (Jeremy), Jonathan (Samantha) and Joshua (Deena); 4 great-grandchildren, Zachary, Hayden, Wyatt, and Gatlin; and brothers, David John (Judy) of Franklin and Donald John (Betty) of Shelbyville. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Geraldine; wife, Virginia John; grandson, Joseph Levering; sisters, Phyllis Banks and Martha Marler; and brothers, Fred and Lowell John.

 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield.

 

A funeral service will be held at the mortuary on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Merlyn Winters officiating.

 

Burial will follow at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown.

Mary Louise Barnard, 101, of Shelbyville

Mary Louise Barnard, 101, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Ashford Place Health Campus. 

 

She was born on February 6, 1921, the daughter of Ralph and Freda Richey of Waldron and was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, and brother Norman Richey. 

 

She graduated from Waldron High School in 1939 and married Bill Barnard

on June 15, 1941.   They lived on the family farm until husband Bill  passed away in July 2010.  Mary assisted with farm chores and was employed by the former Cunningham Gardens for a few years, although she was most proud to a dedicated wife, mother, and home maker.  

 

She was a lifelong member of the Waldron Baptist Church where she  served on many committees.  Her life was centered around her faith, family, and friends and will be remembered as a very kind, caring, and supportive person always willing to offer inspiring words of encouragement to others.

 

She enjoyed music, card games, traveling and sports, especially the basketball games of her family members.

 

Mary leaves behind 2 sons- William Barnard (wife Linda) and Paul Barnard (wife Melody), both of Shelbyville; 8 grandchildren- Lori Cummins (husband Kevin), Kristi Schwering, Tim Barnard (wife Teresa), Brad Barnard (wife Natalie), Beth Ballard (husband Andy), Ashley Kinder (husband Rob), Justin Barnard (wife Krystal), Jordan

Barnard (wife Whitney); and 13 great grandchildren- Josh Cummins (wife Sara), Emily Lantz (husband Brad), Kyle Schwering, Dakota Barnard, Drew Barnard, Jayden Dover (wife Kaitlyn), Lily Ann Gulley, Sadie Kinder, Ada Kinder, Jade Barnard, Ellie Barnard, Mia Barnard,  Izzy Barnard; and 4 great great grandchildren- Myles

Cummins, Emma Cummins, Charlie Lantz, and Eleanor Lantz.

 

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home,  437 Amos Road, with Dr. Robb Barlow officiating. 

 

Intombment will be in Van Pelt Cemetery.

Kenneth E. Hamilton, 90 of Shelbyville

Kenneth E. Hamilton, 90 of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, June 21,2022 at Walker Place.

 

He was born December 24,1931 in Shelbyville, Indiana the son of the late Wilbur Russell Hamilton and Treca Bell (Yarber) Hamilton.

 

He married Becky (Fletcher) Hamilton on November 6, 1953, she preceded him in death on June 12, 2019.

 

Survivors include 3 daughters, Diana Carew (husband Philip) of North Carolina; Brenda Covington of Shelbyville and Rebecca Vanosdol (husband Todd) of Shelbyville; 8 grandchildren and 10 great  grandchildren; his brothers, Ronnie Hamilton of Shelbyville and Steve Hamilton of Greenfield, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Becky and his son-in-law Hal Covington and four sisters.

 

Mr. Hamilton had lived in this area his entire lifetime. He worked 35 years for Marietta Pipeline as an Engineer.

 

He was a 1949 graduate of Shelbyville High School and attended Hope's Point Baptist Church.

 

Kenneth was an IU and Colts fan. He loved his family. He was proud of his "Hero Award" for being  a friend to everyone and having a big smile at the Walker Place.

 

Funeral services will be Monday, June 27, 2022 at 11:30AM at Glenn E. George and Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Rd., Shelbyville with Pastor Greg Albert officiating.

 

Visitation for Kenneth will be on Monday from 10am until service time at 11:30 in the funeral home.

 

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Daniel John Barker, 36, of Nashville, Indiana

Daniel John Barker, 36, of Nashville, Indiana, passed away in his home on Thursday June 16, 2022.

 

Daniel was born February 24, 1986, in Indianapolis. Daniel is survived by his mother Angela Long Barker of Indianapolis; Scott Barker and wife, Julie Barker, of Shelbyville; younger sister, Lindsay Barker of Indianapolis; older brother, Jason Barker of Nashville, Indiana; older sister, Michelle Bonadies and two nephews, of Franklin.

 

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Earl and Mary Barker of St Paul, and maternal grandparents John and Marjorie Long of Shelbyville.

 

Daniel graduated from Shelbyville High School in 2004. That same year, Daniel also became an Eagle Scout. Daniel loved nature and being outdoors. He enjoyed hiking, camping, and sitting around bonfires with friends and family. Daniel also enjoyed cooking out and brewing his own beer. And, when necessary, he loved to tinker with computers to make them run better. Family and friends will always remember Daniel for his bright smile and contagious laughter.

 

A Time of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, June 25th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Glenn E George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Rd in Shelbyville.

Raymond Scheffler, 101

Raymond Scheffler, 101, died June 19, 2022, in Columbus, Indiana. 

 

He was born on February 24, 1921, in Shelby County, Indiana to Harry Scheffler and Bernice Fox Scheffler. 

 

He is survived by his children,  Vicky Goode (Reelsville, IN), Raymond Scheffler Jr. (Valrico, FL), Ellen Scheffler (Columbus, IN) and John Scheffler (Columbus, IN), 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.  Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Jean, his wife of 75 years, and his brother Frank.

 

After graduating from Shelbyville High School in 1939, he pursued a career managing flour mills and grain elevators.   He was called to active duty in the Army Air Corps in January, 1943 and was a B-24 pilot.  While stationed in Waco, TX, he married the love of his life, Jean Mulligan of Ft. Wayne. 

 

After completing his pilot training, he was assigned to the 13th Air Force, 307th Bomb Group, 370th Bomb Squadron in the South Pacific.  In addition to completing 51 combat missions, he was a combat flight instructor and checked out new crews arriving in the combat theater of operation.   After WWII, Raymond returned to Ft. Wayne with his wife to work and start a family.   In 1953, Raymond brought his family back to Shelby County and farmed for over 40 years.  In 1982, he retired as a Lt. Colonel from the US Air Force Reserves. 

 

Raymond took great pride in his family, his military service for our country, and his career as a farmer.  Raymond was an amateur radio operator (K9GKZ) and a member of the Air Force Military Auxiliary Radio System which provides phone patches for military personnel around the world.  He was also a member of the Blue River Valley Amateur Radio Society, the Masonic Lodge, Shriners, Scottish Rite, and York Rite.  He had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel, visiting all 50 states and several foreign countries.  He was also an avid dog-lover and enjoyed drives along the Ohio River.

 

 

Lt. Colonel Scheffler has made his final flight to his eternal home.  Life’s mission complete.

 

Graveside services will be 10:30 am on Friday, June 24, 2022 at Forest Hill Cemetery. 

 

Friends may call on Thursday evening, June 23, 2022 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Glenn E. George and Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road. 

 

Masonic rites will follow at 7:00 pm. 

 

A graveside military service will be conducted by the American Legion Memorial Committee.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Raymond's name to either the Shriners Children's Hospital or the USO (United Service Organizations), in care of the funeral home.

David  A. Elliott, 75, of Shelbyville

David  A. Elliott, 75, of Shelbyville, passed away June 13, 2022 at MHP Medical Center.

 

Born November 14, 1946 in Indianapolis, he was the son of Arthur Gorrell 

and Goldie Beatrice (Redd) Elliott.

 

Survivors include 3 sons- Chad Elliott (wife Charity) of Shelbyville, Shawn

Elliott (Wendy Price) of Shelbyville, Robert Elliott (wife Brenda) of Shelbyville; 

a sister Tonya Waltz of Franklin; and several grandchildren.  He was preceded 

in death by his parents, half brother Bud, and half sister Eunice.

 

Mr. Elliott was a lifelong resident of this area, and retired from KCL Corp. in 2002

after 37 years of service.  He had attended Shelbyville High  School.

 

Graveside services will be 12:00 noon on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Hebron 

Cemetery in Adams.  Friends may call at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home,

Mary June (Lingenfelter) Runion, 83, Greenfield

Mary June (Lingenfelter) Runion, 83, Greenfield, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Westminster Village North, Lawrence.

 

Mary was born on June 30, 1938, in Shelbyville, to Edgar Minnis and Minnie May (Theobald) Lingenfelter. She is a 1956 graduate of Greenfield High School. She married her love Nelson Dean Runion on January 19, 1957.

Mary worked various positions at the Indiana State Highway Department for over 35 years. She retired in 2006. Mary was a member of Fountaintown Christian Church and then Shiloh Christian Church. She loved to sew and crochet, tend to her fruit, vegetable, and flower gardens, and take care of her home. She enjoyed riding horses in Brown County and formerly was a member of Shelby County Western Riders.

Mary is survived by her loving sons, Rex Runion and Dwain Runion; grandchildren, John Runion and Rachel Runion; great-grandchildren, Jacob Runion, Madison Runion, and Taylor Wilkerson; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Nelson Dean Runion of 62 years; and siblings, Susie McCoy, Donna Wilhelm, and Bill Lingenfelter.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, with the service starting at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Michael Smith.

 

Burial will take place beside her husband in Park Cemetery, Greenfield.

Mary Elizabeth "Bef" Best, 64, Greenfield

Mary Elizabeth “Bef” Best, 64, Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022. She was born on April 29, 1958, in Beech Grove, IN, to Robert Morris and Jo Ann (Jennett) Hoagland. She is a 1976 graduate of Scecina High School, Indianapolis.

Mary attended Little Flower Catholic Church from a young age. She then transitioned to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Mary worked at IU Medical Center as a secretary in the Oncology Department where she molded her loving and caring traits that she would carry throughout her life. Following IU, Mary worked for 25 years as an administrative assistant with Thomas & Skinner, Inc., Indianapolis. Mary was very funny, sarcastic, embarrassing in public, an excellent cook, quick to make friends, a left hander, and an avid TV watcher. In Mary’s later years, she attended St. Michael Catholic Church, Greenfield.

Mary is survived by her mother, Jo Ann Hoagland; children, Sara Flores and Jennifer O’Connor; grandchildren: Adalyn Flores, Dominic Flores, Daniel O’Connor, Timothy O’Connor, and Joseph “JoJo” O’Connor; siblings: Kathleen (Roger) Wilson, Joseph Hoagland, and Michael Hoagland; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Hoagland.

Phillip Lee Parsons, 77, of Greenfield

Phillip Lee Parsons, 77, of Greenfield, passed away on June 15, 2022 with his wife Connie by his side.

 

He was born on March 2, 1945 to the late William Odell and Delphia A. (Parnell) Parsons in St. Louis, MO. He married Connie (Bell) Parsons on November 11, 2002, she survives.


He is survived by his wife, Connie; 2 children, Angela (Tim) Henry, Audra (Asa) Nelson; step daughter Christi (Randy) Kinsey; 3 siblings, Lindell (Linda) Parsons, Diana Collingwood and Victor L. (Gloria) Parsons; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.


In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by his brother Roy O. Parsons, daughter Cristy Lee Fashano, and brother in law Joseph Collingwood.

Anthony "Tony" Joseph Farrell, 53, of Morristown

Anthony "Tony" Joseph Farrell, 53, of Morristown, passed away on June 16, 2022 in Heltonville, IN.

 

He was born to the late Patrick Edward and Carolyn Ann (Koesters) Farrell on June 2, 1969 in Indianapolis, IN. He married Leslie Anne (Rybicki) Farrell on December 6, 2008. Tony loved football, both playing at Eastern Illinois University and coaching at Fishers High School.

 

He enjoyed being an outdoorsman and tinkerer. His favorite activities were spending time with his wife, children and family, hunting with his bird dogs, and hiking. He served as a dedicated Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Officer and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was a detective with IMPD and a liaison with Joint Terrorism Task Force.


He is survived by his loving wife, Leslie; his 2 children, Anthony Joseph (Courtney) Farrell II and Malerie Louise Farrell; his beloved granddaughter, Presley Farrell; siblings, Patrick (Carol) Farrell, Brian (Denise) Farrell, Colleen "Sis" Farrell, Christine (Bill) Levy and Mark (Kara) Farrell; sister in laws, Karen (Jeff) Menke, Suzanna Farrell and Karen Farrell, brother in law, Tom (Kelly) Rybicki, mother and father in law, Larry and Jean Rybicki; his uncle, Fr. Mike Farrell and Aunt Barb Farrell, along with 19 nieces and nephews.


In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his brothers, Kevin “Mel” Farrell and Daniel "Duffy" Farrell.


Services for Tony will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Shelbyville, with visitation at 9:30 AM and a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 PM.

 

Interment to follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Indianapolis.

Judith Irene “Judy” Baker, 76, of Greenwood, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at St. Francis Hospice House in Indianapolis.

She was born February 19, 1946, in Rushville, the daughter of George W. and Opal Louise (Six) Burris.

Judy is survived by her daughter, Stacy Couture and husband, Jessie, of Greenwood; brothers, William “Henry Burris and Joseph Allen Burris, both of Connersville; sister Sharon Turner and husband, Kenneth, of Bainbridge; grandchildren, Jesslynn Couture, Ashley Scott, Branden Scott and Christopher Scott; great-grandchildren, Acacia Wachtel, Emma Wachtel, Olivia Wachtel, Irielgh Wachtel, Jazmine Wachtel and Jordyn Scott; great-grandchild, Morgan Kunkler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jamie Baker; and brothers, George J. Burris, Charles Burris and Harlan Burris; and sisters, Alice Duerigen and Caroline Jones.

Judy graduated in 1966 from Arlington High School.

She retired from RCA, with 32 years of service, in 1994.

She enjoyed playing games, her computer, watching her favorite television shows and family cookouts.

Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Arlington East Hill Cemetery in Arlington.

Michael J. Kinder, 69, of Greenfield

Michael J. Kinder, 69, of Greenfield, passed away on June 11, 2022 peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.

 

He was born March 11, 1953, in Greenfield to the late Ferris R. and Ruby L. (Basey) Kinder. Michael was a 1972 graduate of Eastern Hancock High School.


Michael was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He enjoyed time spent with his family and friends. He was always present to support his grandchildren in their sporting events, hobbies, and activities. He enjoyed camping, traveling, casinos, and off roading. He was also an avid lover of IU Basketball, Indy Car, and Nascar racing. Prior to his retirement Michael worked for McClarnon Stock Farms, Insight of Noblesville, and Formica, Greenfield.
He is survived by his son; Ryan Kinder, grandchildren: Ali Kinder and Austin Kinder, brother; Roger Kinder, mother of Ryan and forever friend; Terry Kinder.


A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Omoyemwen Patience (Omoregbee) Enohense, 58, Greenfield

Omoyemwen Patience (Omoregbee) Enohense, 58, Greenfield, passed away unexpectedly on June 11, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

 

She was born in Benin City, Benin, Nigeria, to George and Victoria (Ekhator) Omoregbee. She married Felix Enohense.

Omoyemwen was a tremendously loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed. All of her siblings went to her for comfort, advice, guidance, love, and direction when their paths or fears were in question. She never failed to lend a smile, a hug, an ear for listening, and calmness to soothe the worries. She enjoyed cooking, singing, helping others, and Jesus. She was of the Christian faith. She was also an owner/operator of a selling and buying business in her homeland.

She is survived by her mother, Victoria Omoregbee; loving husband of 28 years, Felix Enohense; children: Aisosa Fidelia, Esohe Lucia, Peter Osavbie, and Paul Osarumwense; grandchildren: Samuel and Nathaniel; siblings: Anita Itohan, Frances Owas, Joy, Stella Ehis, Cyril Odes, Efe Felicity, and Samuel Edes; and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members.

Omoyemwen was preceded in death by her father, George Omoregbee.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 17, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Park Cemetery, Greenfield.

Nancy Elaine (Forbes) McGhehey, 60

Nancy Elaine (Forbes) McGhehey, 60, passed away at Community North Hospital, Indianapolis, on June 13, 2022.

 

She was born on August 15, 1961, in Indianapolis to Lewis Wayne and Linda Marie Suits. Nancy is a 1981 graduate of Tech High School.

 

She also graduated from IUPUI with her bachelor’s degree in Education. She married her love, Charles Lee McGhehey, Jr.

Nancy worked at Indianapolis’s Wayne Township Schools as a special education’s teacher for many years. Nancy was a tremendously loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed. Nancy was the matriarch that held her beautiful family together. She loved to coordinate family events, dinners, holidays, and celebrations. Nancy was also a coordinator for her beloved church, The Caring Place, where upon she would communicate with the seniors, arrange dinners, and remind of the church’s happenings. She loved playing cards and dice games, flower gardening, talking on the phone, and traveling. She also loved music, especially the bands, 38 Special, Styx, Journey, and REO Speedwagon.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Charles McGhehey, Jr.; loving children: Brandon A. (Jenny) McGhehey, Matthew L. (Dominique) McGhehey, and Kathryn C. (Bryan) Webb; awesome grandchildren: Caleb McGhehey, Samuel McGhehey, and Ryan McGhehey who called her Nana; siblings: Greg Maddle, Warren (Michelle) Suits, Laura (Rob, Jr.) Weddle, and Audra (Paul) Weddle; parents-in-law, Charles and Patricia McGhehey; sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Ed) Moore; aunts and uncles: Carolyn Robinson, Roy Renner, Kathy Renner, Barbara Campbell, and Marsha Cline; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Steven Suits; aunt, Judy Chatman; and uncle, Kenny Renner.

Mary June (Lingenfelter) Runion, 83, Greenfield

Mary June (Lingenfelter) Runion, 83, Greenfield, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Westminster Village North, Lawrence.

 

Mary was born on June 30, 1938, in Shelbyville, to Edgar Minnis and Minnie May (Theobald) Lingenfelter.

 

She is a 1956 graduate of Greenfield High School. She married her love Nelson Dean Runion on January 19, 1957.

Mary worked various positions at the Indiana State Highway Department for over 35 years. She retired in 2006. Mary was a member of Fountaintown Christian Church and then Shiloh Christian Church. She loved to sew and crochet, tend to her fruit, vegetable, and flower gardens, and take care of her home. She enjoyed riding horses in Brown County and formerly was a member of Shelby County Western Riders.

Mary is survived by her loving sons, Rex Runion and Dwain Runion; grandchildren, John Runion and Rachel Runion; great-grandchildren, Jacob Runion, Madison Runion, and Taylor Wilkerson; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Nelson Dean Runion of 62 years; and siblings, Susie McCoy, Donna Wilhelm, and Bill Lingenfelter.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, with the service starting at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Michael Smith.

 

Burial will take place beside her husband in Park Cemetery, Greenfield.

James "Wesley" Corbin Sr., 65, of Greensburg

James “Wesley” Corbin Sr., 65, of Greensburg, passed away Monday June 13, 2022.

  

He was born December 21, 1956 in Greensburg, Indiana. 

 

Wesley graduated from North Decatur High School in 1977.  He enjoyed fishing, farming and anything else he could do to be outdoors. He had a love for tractors and midget racing, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family and loved ones.

 

He married Denise (Burton) Corbin on November 17, 1979 and she survives. They spent 42 wonderful years together.

 

He is also survived by his daughter, Tressie Hess (Jeff), son, James Wesley Corbin, Jr., daughter, Crystal Corbin (Bobby), grandchildren, Javaiha Corbin, James Wesley Corbin III, Olivia Corbin, Shandala Ames, Taylor Corbin, Brooklyn Ames, Kurtis Corbin, great-grandchildren Baylee Corbin, Rylee Ames, Tyler Ronsheim, step-mom, Mary Corbin, and his siblings, Rose Corbin, Roger Corbin, and Margaret Corbin.    

 

He was preceded in death by his father, James F. Corbin and his brother Jimmy.

 

Visitation will be Monday June 20, 2022, from 10am until Noon at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN. 46176.

Janet Ann Cooper, 88 of Shelbyville

Janet Ann Cooper, 88 of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2022 at her residence.

 

Born February 26, 1934 in Indianapolis, Indiana she was the daughter of Robert Woodrow Shortridge & Muriel Irene (Wiseman) Kingery.

 

She married Sylvester Cooper on December 25, 1983 and he preceded her on December 31, 2021.

 

Survivors include children- Diane Essex (husband Jack) of Shelbyville, Geary Van Scyoc (wife Karen) of Sheridan, Carla Van Scyoc (Gary) of Shelbyville, Sue Goodrich (husband John) of Shelbyville, Jon Van Scyoc (wife Reyounora) of Las Vegas, Cheri Justus of Shelbyville, Brenda Browning of Mississippi, Steven Van Scyoc (wife Elizabeth) of New Palestine, Amy Daniel.


(husband Shannon) of Fairland; 3 stepchildren- Bill Cooper of Muncie, Robin Miller of Midland, Texas, Martha Jones of Muncie; numerous grandchildren; and several great-grand children. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, stepfather Claude Kingery and brother James Shortridge.

 

Mrs. Cooper had lived in this area her entire lifetime and was a homemaker. Janet attended Greenfield High School, Trinity United Methodist Church and had been a bookkeeper at Haag Drugs for several years.

 

Janet was an avid reader, and absolutely loved Christmastime and the Holidays, decorating, cooking and entertaining. She loved her family and the time she spent with them.

 

Funeral services will be 12:00 noon, Friday, June 17, 2022 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Rd. with Dr. Robb Barlow officiating.

 

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Maude E. Wagner, 93, formerly of Shelbyville

Maude E. Wagner, 93, formerly of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, June 10, 2022

at Morristown Manor.

 

Born November 4, 1928 in Noble Township, she was the daughter of John Colee and Justina (Burns) Colee.  She married Harold  F.  Wagner on December 25, 1948 and he preceded her on January 24, 1984.

 

Survivors include: 4 children- Vivian Burton (husband John), Harold Dean Wagner (wife Cindy), Robert Wagner (wife Sherrie), Russell Wagner (wife Mary); 2 sisters- Marlene Turner (husband Richard), Mary Sebastian; 2 brothers- George Colee, John Colee (wife Sue); 13 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, a daughter Lori Anne Wagner; sister Mabel Bonenberger.  

 

Mrs. Wagner was a lifelong resident of this area, and was a homemaker.  She graduated from  Waldron High School, and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

 

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road with Pastor Seth Taylor officiating. 

 

Burial  will be  in  Forest Hill Cemetery.

Charles Lee Willis, 50, of Shelbyville

Charles Lee Willis, 50, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at his residence.

 

He was born September 18, 1971 in Rushville to John T. Willis and Tanzy (Anderson) Reble.

 

Charles married Melissa Lea (Hickman) Willis on February 14, 2011 and she survives.

 

He is also survived by his step-dad, Timothy Reble, step-son, Andy Stover, step-daughter, Cheyenne Stover, sons, Rayden Christner, Zackary Pyles, and Mason Karnes, sisters, Thelma Williams, Bertha Dewig (Darrell), and Christina Miller (James), brother, John Willis, half-brothers, Troy Willis and Tommy Willis, aunts, Rose Stoneking, Rebecca Redd, and Rena Bennett, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

  

He was preceded in death by his parents, his uncle, Mike Stoneking, and his grandparents, Albert and Beulah Anderson.

 

Charles loved collecting Dale Earnhart memorabilia, and also Eagle and Wolf memorabilia.

 

He was a homebody and cherished the times he spent with his wife and family.  When he was healthier, Charles was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

 

Visitation will be Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

Stephan Alois Beyer, 76, of Shelbyville

Stephan Alois Beyer, 76, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022, at MHP Medical Center in Shelbyville.

He was born June 16, 1945, in Shelbyville, the son of John Jr. and Betty (Cunningham) Beyer.  On October 13, 1972, he married Shirley Ann Green, and she survives.

In addition to Shirley, Steve is survived by his daughter Michelle (Beyer) Lozier of Waldron; sons, Robert A. Beyer and wife, Jennifer of Shelbyville, Douglas Crane of Waldron, and David Crane of Shelbyville; brothers, Thomas Beyer and wife, Mary, of Geneva, and Timothy Beyer of Greensburg; sister, Rose Mary Sheedy of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Darwin, Maya, Avian, Jessica, Cheyenne, Lillian, Ashley, Justin, Stephan, Courtney and David Michael; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Michael J. Beyer and Paul David Beyer; and sister, Alice A. Bottorff.

Steve was a lifelong Shelby County resident and graduated from Waldron High School.

He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran, serving during the Vietnam Era.

Steve was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and American Legion Post No. 70.

He had worked as a supervisor and project manager for Runnebohm Construction, retiring with over 50 years of service.

Steve enjoyed woodworking.

He also leaves behind his faithful dog, Charlie.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Carmony-Ewing Chapel, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville, with the rosary recited at 7:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2022 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 4218 E. Michigan Road, in Shelbyville, Indiana.

Interment will follow at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the local military committee.

Karen Thompson Ledford, 83, of Shelbyville

Karen Thompson Ledford, 83, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

 

She was born on December 5, 1938, in Shelby County, Indiana to Charles Hubert and Harriett Lucille (Crouch) Thompson.

 

Karen graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1956. She was employed at the former General Electric Plant where she was a secretary and receptionist for eight years before starting her family. As a young girl, she was happiest when she and her family took their horses to Brown County and rode trails in the state park. Family was the most important aspect of Karen’s life. She was always very involved in all activities of her daughters and grandchildren. She loved traveling, especially to the American West where she explored Yellowstone, The Grand Canyon and other national parks and monuments on multiple occasions. She also enjoyed genealogy and spent many years tracing her own family history.

 

She is survived by her daughters Valerie Morrison Diemer (Norman), Tracey Morrison Caceres (Francisco), her grandchildren, Mikayla Diemer, Erin Diemer, Evan Diemer, Grant Diemer, Francisco Caceres, Mariana Caceres, along with many beloved cousins.

 

She married Gary Ledford on January 19, 1989, and he preceded her in death on August 14, 2016.

 

She was also preceded in death by her father and mother, and her grandparents; Otis and Georgia (Wendling) Thompson, and Charles and Agnes (Aynes) Crouch.

 

Visitation will be Saturday, June 11, 2022, from 10 am until noon at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN. 46176.

 

Funeral service will be at noon with Reverend Bill Horner officiating.

 

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Gary Albert Bowlby, 78, of Greensburg

Gary Albert Bowlby, 78, of Greensburg, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022

at his residence.

 

Born March 9, 1944 in Greensburg, he was the son of Edwin Byrl Bowlby and

Sarah Ellen (Hunter) Bowlby.  He married Patricia Lynn (Collins) Bowlby on

July 12, 1980, and she survives.

 

Other survivors include a son Damon A. Bowlby of Florida, and a daughter Alisan J.

Moder (husband Tracy) of Shelbyville.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 

stillborn infant sister Rita Bowlby, and daughter-in-law Becki Bowlby.

 

Mr. Bowlby was a lifelong resident of this area, and graduated from Sand Creek High School in 1962.  He had been a factory worker at Knauf Fiber Glass for 18 years, retiring in 2005.  He had previously been a truck driver for Ashcraft/Baylor Trucking for 9 years and had also worked with his cousin Charlie Bowlby Oil Co. for 15 years.

 

He was a member of Union Baptist Church in Decatur County, a member of American  Legion Post#70 and the Eagles Lodge of Shelbyville.  He was a US Army veteran, serving in Panama for several years.

 

Gary enjoyed hunting and fishing, woodworking, and dearly loved his cats.

 

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on Friday, June 10, 2022 at Glenn E. George & Son

Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Pastor Cliff Bunch officiating. 

 

Burial will be in Van Pelt Cemetery.

John D. Carder, 99, of Milroy

John D. Carder, 99, of Milroy, passed away Friday, June 3, 2022 at Ashford Place.

 

Born October 2, 1922 in  Fayette County, he was the son of Donald William Carder 

and Gladys (Ott) Carder.  He married Imogene (Bowman) Carder on February 22, 1949 and she preceded him on February 12, 1979.  He then married Nedra (Gahimer) Scott and she survives in Georgia.

 

Other survivors include 3 sons- Stephen Carder (wife Helen) of Milroy, William Carder (wife Sally) of Indianapolis, Kevin Carder of Indianapolis; 4 stepsons- Mike Scott (wife Jill) of Georgia, Gregory Scott (wife Jane) of Georgia, Gerry Scott (wife Shaune) of Florida, Brian Scott of Georgia, stepdaughter Donna Scott of Georgia; a sister Patty Jackson of Connersville; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, and several step grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.  He  was preceded in death by his parents, his first spouse, a brother Donald Carder, sisters- Ruth Vail, Betty Garrett, and Joyce Carder.

 

Mr. Carder was a lifelong resident of this area, and graduated from Milroy High School; in 1940.  He was a self employed farmer for 50 years, and also drove a school bus for Rush County Consolidated Schools for 18 years. He was a member of Moscow Christian Church and attended Waldron Methodist Church.  He was a member of Rushville American Legion and VFW.  He was a US Army WWII veteran.

 

John and Nedra enjoyed playing cards, attending flea markets, woodworking, traveling to Florida, and he was especially proud of his military service.  Over the years he wrote several articles for the Rushville Republican about his miliary career.

 

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Faith Stickford officiating. 

 

Burial will be in Moscow Cemetery.

Jacqueline L. Warner, 93, of Shelbyville

Jacqueline L. Warner, 93, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Waldron Health and Rehabilitation Center.

 

She was born December 13, 1928 to the late Frank Talbert and Emma Lambert (Warfield). 

 

Jacqueline was a member of the Evangelical Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed watching her favorite television shows weekly and loved her dogs dearly. She was also very active with The Salvation Army.

 

Jacqueline is survived by her half-sister, Sandra (Warfield) Kuhn, her niece, Julia Weintraut (Mark), niece, Michelle Dicen (Mike), niece, Kathleen Dolengo (Fred), nephew, Mike Warfield (Shannon), niece, Lynn Swinehart (Jerry).

 

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, daughter, Sandy Allen (The World’s Tallest Woman), son, Michael Warner, brother, Michael Warfield, her grandparents, Milton and Josephine Lambert, and nephew, Andrew Kuhn.

 

A graveside service will be in Forest Hill Cemetery at 11am on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.

 Jessica Endahl, 28, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, May 29, 2022 at her residence.

 

She was born June 19, 1993 in Indianapolis to Thomas Endahl and Laura Endahl. 

 Jessica graduated from Shelbyville High School in 2012.

 

She was a machine operator and was training to become a fabricator. Jessica was very artistic and loved to be creative with her painting and drawings. She had an enormous love for animals especially her dogs, Emmy and Frodo.

 

Jessica is survived by her father and mother, her two sisters Vanessa Endahl and Kelsey Endahl, her aunt, Charlene Adams (John), and uncle, Eric Endhal (Jennifer), along with several cousins.

 

She is preceded in death by both of her paternal and maternal grandparents.

 

Private services will be observed at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

Austin Blaine Childers, 23, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, May 30, 2022.

He was born January 13, 1999, in Fort Wayne, the son of Michael Childers and Tina Spillman.

Austin is survived by his mother, Tina Spillman of St. Paul; father, Michael Childers and wife, Angela, of Edinburgh; sons, Keygan Childers and Kingston Childers; brothers, Taylor Childers and Hunter Childers, both of Brown County, Logan Childers and wife, Angelica, of Indianapolis, Dillon Mann of Shelbyville, Pete Barrera of St. Paul, Trenton Ballenger, Bryce Childers, Jayden Childers and Skylar Childers, all of Edinburgh; sisters, Alicia Childers of Taylorsville and Mercedes Childers of Columbus; maternal grandmother, Patricia Spillman of Shelbyville; paternal grandmother, Kathy Childers of Edinburgh; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Gerald Spillman; paternal grandfather, Jim Childers; and sister, Celine Barrera.

Austin attended Trinity United Methodist Church.

He formerly worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Austin enjoyed drawing.
