Indiana State Police are now investigating a Shelbyville baby girl’s death.
Gabriella Lynn “Ellabear” Nuthak, seven-months, lost consciousness at her babysitter’s home on August 9, 2018. She was rushed to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health. She passed away after family took her off life support three days later.
The investigation into the child’s death continues following the release of the Marion County Coroner’s report.
Carrie Ridgeway is Ella’s grandma. She says it’s been a long wait for that report.
The coroner’s report indicates the cause of death is blunt force trauma. There are no charges pending in the death at this time.
Ridgeway says the family just wants something definitive to answer the questions surrounding Ella’s death.
Ridgeway says answers to what caused Ella's death would, at least, provide some closure.
Ella was the daughter of Danny Lee Nuthak and Shelbi Lorraine (Gilpatrick) Hopkins.
Gabriella is survived by her parents of Shelbyville; brother, Channing Hopkins; maternal grandparents, Glenn and Amanda Gilpatrick of Fountaintown; paternal grandparents, Carrie and Brad Ridgeway of Shelbyville; and a very loving extended family.
