Collegiate update: Bringle delivers home run in ISU victory at Valparaiso

TeAnn Bringle had four hits in a pair of Indiana State softball wins at Valparaiso.

 

Bringle, a Shelbyville graduate, went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run batted in Friday in a 10-0 victory over the Crusaders.

 

On Saturday, Bringle was again 2-for-3 and belted her second home run of the season to lead the Sycamores to an 8-2 victory that completed a three-game sweep of their Missouri Valley Conference rival.

 

Indiana State split a doubleheader Tuesday at Behrens Field in Terre Haute with Eastern Illinois.

The Sycamores won game won, 5-0, but lost game two, 4-0, to fall to 11-17 this season.

 

Here is a look at other Shelby County graduates competing at the high school level.

 

Natalie Weber

 

The Shelbyville graduate was 1-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for Franklin College Sunday in a 4-3 win over 13th-ranked Transylvania.

 

The Grizzlies lost game two, 13-4. Weber had a double and scored a run in the loss.

 

Franklin is 8-6 this season.

 

Logan Young

 

The Shelbyville graduate was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs for Indiana University South Bend’s baseball team Saturday in game one of a doubleheader against St. Francis (Ill.).

 

The Titans won 12-6 but lost the series finale later Saturday, 6-5. Young was 1-for-4 in that contest.

 

On Friday, IU South Bend opened the three-game series with a 9-4 victory. Young was 0-for-4 at the plate with a walk and pitched the final inning to close out the win.

 

The Titans are 13-15 this season.

 

Collin Miltz

 

The Shelbyville graduate helped Marian University’s 400-meter relay team to a third-place finish Saturday at the George Glass Invitational hosted by Taylor University in Upland, Indiana.

 

Miltz teamed with Charles Crayton III, Matthew Hamer and Chase Maxey to complete the event in 42.73 seconds.

 

Madisen Hinderliter

 

The Shelbyville graduate placed 18th in the discus (98 feet, eight inches) and 18th in the hammer throw (113-8) Saturday for St. Francis (Ind.) at the George Glass Invitational.

 

Hanover Invitational

 

Shelbyville graduate Zaleeya Martin won the 100 (12.77), 200 (27.35) and was part of the 400 relay team that took first place for Hanover College Saturday in Hanover, Indiana.

 

Martin also finished third in the long jump (15.5.5).

 

Waldron graduate Dalen Williams earned his first outdoor meet victory for Franklin College after taking first place in the javelin (145-6).

 

Williams also placed runner-up in the discus (131-0) and 12th in the shot put (35-10.75).

 

Southwestern graduate Taylor Tatlock also won the javelin event for Franklin College. She threw a career best 113-8 to earn first-place points.

 

Tatlock also finished third in the discus (108-7) and 12th in the hammer throw (76-9).

 

Shelbyville graduate Jill Anspaugh finished seventh for Franklin College in the 1,500 (5:53.11) and eighth in the 800 (2:44.64).
