Spartans win first of home-and-home with Mohawks

Southwestern beat county rival Waldron 13-2 in 5 innings Thursday.

 

The Spartans Anick Hartsell pitched the first three innings, allowing 4 hits and striking out 5, giving up one run.  Ethan Wendling pitched the last two innings.

 

Southwestern broke the game open in the second inning, scoring eight runs, in large part to four extra base hits in a row by Jordan Jones, Hartsell, Wendling, and Christian DeArmitt. 

 

Matthew Clements led SW with 3 RBI.

 

Bryce Yarling took the loss for Waldron.

 

Southwestern and Waldron play at Waldron Friday.
