Shelbyville softball wins ninth straight at Connersville

Powered by five home runs, Shelbyville softball pushed its win streak to nine straight Tuesday with a 13-7 victory at Connersville.

 

Karissa Hamilton hit two home runs and Addisenn Weaver, Katie Mathies and Kylie McIver each had one to lead the Class 4A, No. 14 Golden Bears (12-1).

 

Hailey Pogue went the distance in the pitcher’s circle, allowing 15 hits over seven innings and seven runs, only four were earned. She had four strikeouts.

 

Hamilton, a University of Kentucky recruit, also had two doubles in a 4-for-4 performance at the plate. She scored three runs and had three runs batted in.

 

Mathies was 4-for-5 with a double and three RBIs.

 

McIver was the only other Golden Bear to have at least two hits.

 

Shelbyville scored single runs in the first, third and fourth innings before scoring six in the fifth to take a 9-0 lead.

 

The Spartans (5-6) scored all their runs in the final three innings.
