To advance to the Class 4A, Sectional 14 championship game, the Shelbyville Golden Bears will have to knock off a pair of Columbus schools.
The Indiana High School Athletic Association announced the pairings Sunday for the 54th Annual IHSAA Baseball State Tournament.
Sectional games will be played May 26-31. Regional championships are June 5. North and south semistates are scheduled for June 12. And Victory Field will host the four state championship games on June 21 and June 22.
Bloomington North is the host school for Sectional 14.
The Golden Bears (11-7) open sectional play against Columbus East (6-6-1), the state runner-up in 2019.
The winner will then face either East Central (11-6) or Columbus North (17-1-1), currently ranked No. 1 in the state coaches poll.
The other semifinal features Bloomington South (6-4) versus Bloomington North (3-6).
The sectional champion advances to the Jasper Regional to face the winner of the Mooresville Sectional, which includes No. 3 Center Grove (14-1).
In Class 2A Sectional 42, Triton Central (8-7) debuts in the sectional opener against Indianapolis Scecina (7-9). The winner meets Knightstown (8-6) in the semifinal round.
The other semifinal pits Eastern Hancock (4-9) against Heritage Christian (7-9).
The sectional champion moves on to the Cascade Regional to face the Southmont Sectional champion.
Morristown is again the host site for Class A, Sectional 59.
No. 5 ranked Southwestern (9-4) starts the tournament with a quarterfinal game against Lutheran (4-7).
In game two, Greenwood Christian (4-9) takes on Edinburgh (0-7).
The two winners meet in the semifinal round.
The other semifinal pits Waldron (2-10) against Morristown (7-7).
The Morristown Sectional champ returns to Morristown for regional competition against the White River Valley Sectional champ.
No. 2 Shakamak is in the White River Valley Sectional.
