Rothrock, Royals shut down Golden Bears

Shelbyville softball managed just three hits off one of the country's top high school pitchers Tuesday in a 4-0 loss at Class 4A, No. 4 Roncalli (19-2).

 

Keagan Rothrock, ranked No. 1 in the country in the class of 2023 and verbally committed to the University of Florida, scattered three singles and struck out 14 Golden Bears.

 

Roncalli scored a single run in the bottom of the first and added three more in the third to spot Rothrock to a comfortable lead.

 

Cheyenne Eads took the loss, working three innings, allowing five hits and four runs (three earned). Hailey Pogue pitched three scoreless innings of relief.

 

Lyla Blackwell had two hits and a run batted in for Roncalli. Rothrock was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

 

Karissa Hamilton, Addisenn Weaver and Eads had hits for 4A No. 7 Shelbyville, now 19-3 with all three losses coming to teams in the top 15.

 

The Golden Bears are at Indian Creek Thursday.
