Four Spartans named to All-MHC Baseball team

While the postseason baseball tournament has yet to begin, athletes from three Shelby County schools were awarded accolades for their performances this spring.

 

Southwestern, at 19-4 with a Shelby County Tournament title and a share of Mid-Hoosier Conference title already secured, placed four on the All-Mid-Hoosier Conference Baseball squad.

 

Matthew Clements, Anick Hartsell, Jordan Jones and Ethan Wendling were selected to the 15-member All-MHC Team.

 

Morristown’s Grant Kessler and Waldron’s Bryce Yarling also were selected.

 

Rounding out the All-MHC team were Hauser’s Levi Gollner, Koby Johnson, Sam Miller and Alex Pattingill, North Decatur’s Connor Messer, Reid Messer and Jacob Mirick, and South Decatur’s Devin Pate and Avery Seegers.

 

Southwestern and Hauser were crowned co-champions with identical 11-1 records in MHC contests.

 

Southwestern head coach Chris Ingels was named Coach of the Year.

 

Ten more players were named Honorable Mention. They were Edinburgh’s Noah Detling and Riley Palmeter, Southwestern’s Aiden Hartsell, Hauser’s Eli Miller, Frankie Poole and Bryce Trotter, North Decatur’s Carson Parmer, Morristown’s Jacob Rains and Dylan Thoman, and South Decatur’s Ben Stier.
