Two top-10 ranked teams headed to Shelby County Tournament

A pair of top-10 ranked teams are headed to the Shelby County Tournament.

In the most recent Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association state basketball poll, Waldron sits at No. 2 in Class A while Triton Central is No. 6 in 2A.

The two teams could meet Saturday night at Waldron if each wins their semifinal round matchup Thursday.

Lanesville (16-1) is ranked No. 1 in Class A for the second time this season followed by Waldron (14-1), Lafayette Central Catholic (12-3), Jac-Cen-Del (13-3), North White (12-4), Vincennes Rivet (12-3), Tecumseh (9-6), Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian (13-4), Northeast Dubois (12-3) and Trinity Lutheran (11-5).

Unbeaten South Central (Union Mills) (16-0) is No. 1 in 2A for the first time this year. Winchester (14-1) is No. 2 ahead of Tipton (13-1), Eastbrook (12-1), Fairfield (13-2), Triton Central (14-2), Forest Park (13-2), Eastern Hancock (12-2), Cascade (11-2) and University (11-2).

South Bend Washington (15-2), coming off two wins at the Hall of Fame Classic in New Castle, remains No. 1 in Class 3A.

Silver Creek (15-1) is No. 2 with Garrett (15-1), Benton Central (17-0), Mishawaka Marian (14-3), Norwell (12-4), Hamilton Heights (12-3), Twin Lakes (14-3), Jay County (12-2) and Washington (14-3) rounding out the top 10.

Bedford North Lawrence (15-1) rises to No. 1 in Class 4A with Noblesville (14-3), Franklin (17-1), Homestead (13-1), Crown Point (13-2), Westfield (13-3), Fishers (12-3), Columbia City (15-0), North Central (13-5) and Fort Wayne Snider (10-2) completing the top 10.

In this week’s Associated Press boys basketball state poll, unbeaten Edinburgh (10-0) is No. 2 in Class A.

North Daviess (11-1) is No. 1 ahead of Edinburgh, Bloomfield (9-1), Loogootee (10-3), Gary 21st Century (6-2), Barr-Reeve (7-4), Lutheran (6-1), Triton (6-1), Jac-Cen-Del (5-2) and Orleans (8-2).

The top 10 in Class 2A has six unbeatens. Central Noble (9-0) leads the way with Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian (10-0), Linton-Stockton (11-1), Carroll (Flora) (8-0), Monroe Central (8-0), Eastside (10-0), Eastern Hancock (7-1), Southmont (7-0), Clinton Prairie (10-1) and South Spencer (7-2) in pursuit.

Mishawaka Marian (8-2) is No. 1 in Class 3A ahead of Brebeuf (8-1), Leo (7-1), NorthWood (11-1), John Glenn (9-0), Chatard (10-0), Brownstown Central (8-1), Sullivan (9-1), Peru (9-0) and Connersville (9-3).

In Class 4A, Carmel (8-2) is No. 1 with Fishers (12-1), Zionsville (8-1), Chesterton (10-0), Penn (7-0), Terre Haute North (12-0), Westfield (7-2), Cathedral (8-3), Valparaiso (9-2) and Tech (10-2) completing the top 10.
