Shelbyville wrestling wins Guerin Catholic Invitational

Shelbyville finished 5-0 and had four wrestlers go undefeated to win the Guerin Catholic Invitational Saturday.

The Golden Bears defeated Scecina (60-9), Lafayette Central Catholic (51-18), Lapel (56-6), Lawrenceburg (36-30) and Guerin Catholic (42-28) to capture the team title.

Shelbyville improved to 14-7 in dual matches this season.

 

 

Finishing the day 5-0 for Shelbyville were Ethan Watkins at 126 pounds, Cael Lux at 132, Tarik Runnebohm at 138 and Carson Linville at 170.

Shelbyville returns to the mats Saturday for the Hoosier Heritage Conference Meet at Yorktown.

In another wrestling invitational Saturday:

Maconaquah Invitational

A trio of Triton Central Tigers captured third-place finishes at the Maconaquah Invitational.

Dayne Bailey, Isaak Booth and Hadyn Ball each finished 4-1 to finish on the podium.

 

 

Jaden Ferris, Tristan Gibbons and Andrew Bailey went 3-2 in the invitational. Ferris and Bailey finished fourth in their respective weight classes. Gibbons placed fifth.

Marcos Davis was 2-2 and finished seventh.

The Tigers host Beech Grove Thursday at 6 p.m. in a dual meet then travel to Monrovia Saturday for the Indiana Crossroads Conference Meet.
