Shelbyville tops Morristown in gymnastics

Shelby County’s two gymnastics programs went head-to-head Monday at Girls Inc. in Shelbyville.

The host Golden Bears prevailed over Morristown, 89.625-84.65.

Shelbyville's Kaliyah Brown (photo, top of podium for all-around place finishers) won three events and the all-around competition. She placed first in the vault, uneven bars and floor exercise.

Oakleigh Goedde, a Morristown junior, won the balance beam event and finished runner-up in the vault, uneven bars and floor exercise to secure a second-place finish in the all-around competition.

Shelbyville's Renee Aldridge finished third in the all-around bolstered by third-place finishes in the uneven bars and floor exercise and a fourth-place finish on the balance beam.

Morristown’s Allison Batten, a senior, finished fourth in the vault and uneven bars and fifth in the floor exercise to place fourth in the all-around.

Shelbyville's Faye-Lynn Voss was fifth in the all-around after placing third in vault, fourth in floor exercise and fifth on the uneven bars.

Also for Morristown, Cheyenne Shrum was fifth in the vault and Kaelee Trittipo was fifth on the balance beam.

Shelbyville will host Seymour Thursday while Morristown returns to competition on Jan. 25 against New Palestine and Scecina.
