Prep Report: Southwestern secures road win against Indianapolis Herron

Southwestern raced out to a 38-9 halftime advantage and rolled to a 53-16 victory Tuesday night against Indianapolis Herron.

Seven different players scored leading to Southwestern’s largest margin of victory this season.

Lilly Rooks scored 12 of her game-high 17 points in the first half to lead Southwestern (9-10).

Lily Kerber finished with 11 points and Alison Muck had nine.

Southwestern led 18-7 at the end of the first quarter and built that into a 29-point halftime lead. The Spartans outscored the Achaeans 11-7 in the third quarter and held them scoreless over the final eight minutes.

London Love led Herron (4-12) with 14 points.

Southwestern returns to the court Monday at Indiana Deaf (6-9).

In another girls basketball game Tuesday:

Greenwood Christian 49, Morristown 40

At Greenwood Christian, Morristown freshman Nevaeh Sanders scored a career-high 23 points but it was not enough to get the Yellow Jackets past the Cougars.

Sanders also had three rebounds and four steals in the loss.

 

 

Raegan Kleine had 12 points, two rebounds and three steals for Morristown (9-9).

Greenwood Christian (10-9) trailed 22-20 at halftime but outscored the Yellow Jackets 29-18 in the second half to secure the win.

Morristown travels to Hauser (9-9) on Thursday for a Mid-Hoosier Conference game.
