Prep Report: Southwestern, Morristown earn road victories

Southwestern’s girls basketball program delivered a birthday present for head coach Jason West.

The Spartans improved to 10-10 this season with a 49-29 win Monday at Indiana Deaf on West’s birthday.

 

 

The Spartans led 25-15 at halftime then outscored the Orioles 19-4 in the third quarter to pull away for the win.

Lily Kerber finished with a team-high 16 points. Alison Muck had 10.

Seanna Baird led Indiana Deaf (7-12) with 17 points.

Southwestern closes out its regular-season schedule with a home game tonight against Brown County (3-18) and a road game Thursday at Greenwood Christian (11-9).

In another girls basketball game Monday:

Morristown 54, Knightstown 20

At Knightstown, freshman Nevaeh Sanders topped 20 points for the third consecutive game to lead the Yellow Jackets to their 11th win this season.

Sanders had a game-high 21 points and had four rebounds and four steals to push Morristown’s record to 11-9 this season.

 

 

Raegan Kleine scored 15 points and had eight rebounds and four assists. Danika Rutledge finished with seven points and 10 rebounds. Maggie Lutes had 11 rebounds.

Knightstown closed out the regular season with a 2-20 record.

Morristown has two more games this week. The Yellow Jackets host Lutheran (5-14) Thursday and travel Friday to Edinburgh (8-7).
