Waldron remains No. 1 in penultimate Class A girls basketball poll

With just days left in the high school girls basketball regular season, Waldron remains the No. 1-ranked team in the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association’s Class A poll.

The Mohawks, now 19-1, host Milan (5-16) Thursday to close out the regular season.

Lanesville (21-1) is ranked No. 2 in the poll ahead of Lafayette Central Catholic (18-4), Blue River (20-2), Tecumseh (13-7), Jac-Cen-Del (16-6), Vincennes Rivet (16-5), Northeast Dubois (15-4), North White (15-6), Caston (16-5) and Trinity Lutheran (14-7).

The only unbeaten team left in the state is Class 2A, No. 1 South Central (Union Mills). The Satellites are 22-0 and close out the regular season Friday at LaCrosse (14-6).

Winchester (19-1) is No. 2 with Eastbrook (17-2), University (18-2), Tipton (18-3), Fairfield (18-3), Forest Park (18-3), Triton Central (18-4), Cascade (17-4) and Pioneer (18-4) in pursuit.

South Bend Washington (20-2) continues its season-long hold on the top spot in the Class 3A poll.

Garrett (22-1) is No. 2 with Silver Creek (20-2), Benton Central (23-1), Norwell (17-4), Jay County (19-3), Washington (19-3), Hamilton Heights (15-5), Mishawaka Marian (17-5) and Twin Lakes (17-5) rounding out the top 10.

Homestead (20-1) sits atop the top 10 in Class 4A. Franklin (21-1) is No. 2 ahead of Crown Point (18-3), Bedford North Lawrence (19-2), Noblesville (17-4), North Central (18-5), Westfield (18-4), Fishers (17-4), Fort Wayne Snider (16-3) and Columbus East (17-3).
