Collegiate Update: Heath scores career high in Hanover's win at Rose-Hulman

Taylor Heath scored 19 of her career-high 27 points in the second half Wednesday to lead Hanover’s women’s basketball team to a road conference win at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

Heath (photo), a Triton Central graduate, also had four rebounds, six assists and one steal in Hanover’s 75-63 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference win.

The Panthers improved to 8-7 this season and 5-5 in the HCAC standings.

Heath, a freshman, had seven points, five assists and one steal on Jan. 19 in Hanover’s 84-60 loss to No. 3 Transylvania.

On Saturday, she had 14 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals in a 77-68 loss at Bluffton.

Here is a look at other Shelby County graduates competing at the collegiate level.

 

 

Maya Chandler

The Triton Central graduate finished with 11 points, seven rebounds and two assists in Loyola’s 68-54 win Friday over Evansville.

The Ramblers improved to 11-7 overall and 3-4 in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Triton Central graduate Rylie Stephens played two minutes for Evansville (7-9, 1-4 MVC) and did not score.

 

 

Hayden Langkabel

The Morristown graduate had 17 points, one rebound and two assists Tuesday to help Marian defeat No. 9-ranked Grace College, 82-67.

The Knights improved to 15-4 this season and 7-4 in Crossroads League games.

On Saturday, Marian lost at No. 7 Indiana Wesleyan, 81-77. Langkabel had 10 points, six rebounds, one steal and one assist.

 

 

 Drake Moore

The Morristown graduate scored three points and had one rebound and one steal for York in an 81-70 loss Monday at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas.

 

 

Kenzie Ryle

The Triton Central graduate finished with two rebounds, one assist and one steal on Jan. 19 in Earlham College’s 80-64 loss against Defiance College.

Ryle did not play Saturday in Earlham’s 80-62 loss at Manchester. Earlham is 0-13 this season and 0-6 in HCAC contests.

 

 

Zaleeya Martin

The Shelbyville graduate was named HCAC Track Athlete of the Week after scoring three first-place finishes for Hanover Saturday at the Mt. St. Joseph Invitational.

Martin won the 60-meter dash (7.97 seconds), the 200 (28.06) and was part of Hanover’s winning 4x200 relay team (1:53.83).

 

Madisen Hinderliter

The Shelbyville graduate finished fourth for St. Francis in the women’s weight throw at the Indiana Wesleyan University Invitational.

Hinderliter’s best distance was 12.61 meters.

 

 

Kenneth Gipson

The Triton Central graduate finished seventh in the shot put (37 feet, 9.25 inches) and fifth in the weight throw (41-9.25) for Rose-Hulman Friday in the Friday Night Spikes Meet in Terre Haute.

 

 

Chandler Martin

The Shelbyville graduate placed fourth in the high jump (1.83 meters) for the University of Indianapolis in the University of Indianapolis Classic Saturday.

 

 

Cameron Baker

The Shelbyville graduate finished third in the first of two one-meter diving competitions and fifth in the second for Franklin College Saturday in a dual meet against Rose-Hulman.

Baker scored 146.05 points in his first event and 173.6 points in the second.

Nolan Davis

The Shelbyville graduate celebrated Senior Day Saturday for Franklin College’s swim and dive team with an 183-115 win over Rose-Hulman.

In the final home dual meet of his career, Davis (photo below, right) won the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.74) and 500 freestyle (4:55.95). He also was part of Franklin’s winning 400 freestyle relay team with fellow senior Davis Fletcher (photo below, left), Jack Burke and Campbell Coyle.
