Prep Report: Shelbyville golf finishes fourth at Trinity Lutheran Invitational

Four Shelbyville golfers finished within three strokes of each other to earn a fourth-place finish Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Invitational in Seymour.

Playing at Shadowood Golf Course, Jake Garrison and Brock Wischmeyer each carded 18-hole scores of 90 to lead the Golden Bears.

DaMiles McDuffey finished two shots back at 92 and Eli Baker carded 93 to set the Golden Bears’ score at 365.

Fishers won the event by 17 strokes over North Decatur, 320-337. Greenwood Christian was third at 339 followed by Shelbyville, Batesville (383), Trinity Lutheran (402), Seymour (477) and Eastern (Pekin) (480).

North Decatur’s Colin Bryant was the medalist with a three-over par score of 75.

Shelbyville travels to Connersville today for a three-team match with Knightstown.

Softball

Tri 18, Morristown 4

At Morristown, the visiting Titans (5-7) scored eight runs in the second inning and nine more in the third to secure the win.

Kennadi Knepley had two hits, scored three runs and drove in three to lead the Titans.

Alexia Rogers went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a run batted in for Morristown (6-5).

Morristown hosts South Decatur Tuesday.

 

 

Girls Tennis

Whiteland Invitational

Shelbyville finished 1-2, scoring a 5-0 win over International.

Jaidyn Tackett needed three sets to complete the sweep for the Golden Bears.

Emma Sandman and Ella Connolly lost a total of four games in winning at No. 2 singles and No. 3 singles, respectively.

Karlie Lawson and Renee Aldridge won at No. 1 doubles, 6-1, 6-1.

Riley Lee and Sydney Baker were victorious at No. 2 doubles, 7-5, 6-2.

Shelbyville lost to University, 3-2.

Tackett and the doubles pairing of Lee and Baker produced the Golden Bear wins.

Whiteland swept Shelbyville, 5-0.

Shelbyville is at Greenfield-Central Tuesday.

 

 

Jennings County 4, Southwestern 1

At Southwestern, the No. 2 doubles team of McKinley Correll and Faith Kelley improved to 7-2 this season with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Caitlyn Schuck and Amy Vogel to produce the host Spartans’ lone win.

At No. 1 singles, Jennings County’s Reagan Brown defeated Lauryn Blondell, 6-0, 6-0.

Tatum Brown bested Ella Rice at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-1.

Sophia Lucas topped Makinze Belton at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-0.

At No. 1 doubles, Lucy Brown and Maria Alberti needed three sets to defeat Southwestern’s Kyla Robertson and Brooke Schneider, 6-3, 4-6, 10-7.

Southwestern hosts Edinburgh today.

 

 

Track and Field

Muncie Central Bearcat Invitational

Waldron scored a trio of top-eight finishes.

Cheyenne Lozier placed sixth in the 200 meters (28.6 seconds).

Hadlie Ross finished third in the 800 (2:37.87).

And Lillian Lozier took fourth in the 300 hurdles (55.73).

Muncie Central captured the team title with 113 points. Delta was runner-up at 111 and finished ahead of Yorktown (92), Jay County (90), Richmond (74), Anderson (50), Muncie Burris (38) and Waldron (16).
