A field of 383 teams learned their sectional pairings Sunday for the 55th Annual Indiana High School Athletic Association Baseball State Tournament.
Sectional competition begins May 25 and continues through May 30 (Memorial Day), with 64 champions advancing to four-team regionals on June 4.
The 16 regional winners will be assigned to four semistate sites and play a single game on June 11, with the winners moving on to their respective state championship games.
The four state championship games will be played at Victory Field in Indianapolis for the 24th year. This year’s games will be played in a doubleheader format on June 17 and June 18.
Shelbyville (9-5) was slotted into game two of the Class 4A sectional against the host school, Bloomington South (8-6).
In the opener, Columbus North (11-2-2) will take on East Central (9-5).
The winner of those two games will meet in the semifinal round. The other semifinal pits Columbus East (6-9-1) against Bloomington North (2-5).
Shelbyville and Bloomington South will not meet during the regular season. The Golden Bears host Columbus North today at Barnett Field.
The Bloomington South Sectional champion advances to the Jasper Regional to face the winner of the Center Grove Sectional, which features Class 4A, No. 1 Center Grove (15-1-1).
Triton Central (7-6) travels to Indianapolis Scecina for a Class 2A sectional where it will face the host Crusaders (6-7) in the opening game. The two teams meet twice this week for Indiana Crossroads Conference contests.
The winner of the sectional opener will face Eastern Hancock (3-12) in the semifinal round. The other semifinal features Knightstown (3-8-1) against Heritage Christian (11-4).
The Scecina Sectional champion advances to the Park Tudor Regional to face the Parke Heritage Sectional champion.
Morristown is again the host site for a Class A sectional tournament.
In the opener, Greenwood Christian (7-6) will take on the host Yellow Jackets (7-4).
In game two, Southwestern (4-9) battles Indianapolis Lutheran (8-6).
The winner of those two games meet in the semifinals.
The other semifinal pits Waldron (4-10) against Edinburgh (2-11).
The winner of the sectional returns to Morristown for a regional tournament. The Morristown Sectional champion will meet the Indiana Deaf Sectional champion in game two of the regional.
