Prep Report: South Decatur completes two-game sweep of Morristown

South Decatur doubled up visiting Morristown, 8-4, Thursday night to stay unbeaten in Mid-Hoosier Conference games this season.

The Cougars improved to 15-2 overall and 8-0 in the MHC standings.

Avery Seegers pitched five innings and allowed one hit while striking out six Yellow Jackets. Dale Peters worked two innings and allowed all four runs.

Zaydun Sharp had a triple and three runs batted in. Seegers had two hits and two RBIs.

Jake Rains had two of Morristown’s four hits in the loss.

Dyllan Rutledge took the loss on the mound.

Morristown is at Anderson Prep (0-8) Monday.

Softball

South Decatur 11, Morristown 6

At South Decatur, the host Cougars used a four-run sixth inning to break open a 1-run game and defeat the Yellow Jackets (7-6, 1-5 MHC).

Lakota Henry had three hits, including a double, and drove in three runs to lead South Decatur (4-11, 3-3 MHC).

The sophomore also pitched a complete game, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out four. All six Morristown runs were unearned.

Nevaeh Cox, Alexia Rogers and Kaylin Waltz each had two hits for Morristown.

Rhylee Moran took the loss in the pitcher’s circle. She allowed six hits and three walks while striking out seven. Eight of South Decatur’s 11 runs were unearned.

Morristown travels to Blue River Valley (0-8) Monday.
