Triton Central wins Shelby County Girls Tennis Tournament

With a sweep of the three singles matches, Triton Central defeated Waldron Saturday afternoon at Southwestern to win the Shelby County Girls Tennis Tournament.

For the second time this season, Triton Central prevailed over Waldron, 3-2.

Julia Sanders defeated Nichole Garner at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Emma Hutchinson bested Josee Larrison at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 7-5.

And Lelia Chougule  topped Riley Price, 6-3, 6-0.

At No. 1 doubles, Waldron’s Mackenzie Shaw and Megan Bogemann defeated Kelsey McGuire and Alyssa Wheatley, 6-1, 6-0.

Waldron’s Audrey Hogg and Emily Tyree defeated Olivia Martin and Sarah Williams, 6-3, 6-3.

Triton Central improved to 10-4 this season. Waldron is 7-6.

Triton Central reached the championship with a 5-0 victory over Morristown.

All five matches ended 6-0, 6-0. Morristown is 0-11 this season.

Waldron won all three singles matches and added a win at No. 1 doubles to eliminate the Spartans, 4-1.

Southwestern’s only win came at No. 2 doubles where Faith Kelley and McKinley Correll topped Hogg and Tyree, 7-5, 6-1.

Southwestern is 1-11 this season.
