Prep Report: Triton Central's Oliver Gearlds co-medalist at Hauser Invitational

Oliver Gearlds shot a 5-over par round of 77 Saturday to earn co-medalist honor with Greenwood Christian’s Ian Reed at the Hauser Invitational.

Playing at Otter Creek Golf Course in Columbus, Gearlds (photo) carded 39 on the front nine and 38 on the back nine to be one of four golfers that broke 80 Saturday.

Reed posted 41 on the front nine and 36 on the back nine to share the top honor with Gearlds.

Morristown’s Asher Caldwell (40-38) and Edinburgh’s Max Blandford (44-34) finished one shot back at 78.

Greenwood Christian captured the team title. The Cougars’ 330 topped Heritage Christian (336), North Decatur (349), Edinburgh (383) and Triton Central (404).

The remainder of the field included Hauser (406), Southwestern (410), Morristown (413), Columbus East JV (418) and Scottsburg (Inc.).

Competing for Triton Central were Gearlds, Chase Chandler (101), Derreck Uhls (105), Max Ray (121) and Garrett Eberhardt (122).

Southwestern was led by Hunter Pappano’s 98. Justin Swift (101), Caleb Pappano (104), Tristan Pappano (107) and Ty Burcham (112) finished the Spartans’ scorecard.

For Morristown, Nick Stidham shot 103. He was followed on the scorecard by Carson Essex (109), Web Walker (123) and Carson Conrad (124).

Batesville Invitational

Shelbyville finished seventh in the team standings at Hillcrest Country Club.

Madison won the 12-team event with a score of 321.

Yorktown was runner-up (337) with Mt. Vernon (342), New Palestine (344), Greensburg (347), Batesville (369), Shelbyville (370), East Central (379), Jennings County (397), Oldenburg Academy (445) and Rising Sun (454) completing the team scores.

Madison’s Henry Ashley and Landon True each shot 76. Dylan Dreiman followed in the individual standings with an 81.

Brock Wischmeyer led Shelbyville with an 89. Eli Baker was one-shot back at 90. Jake Garrison carded 91 and Nolan Chaney followed at 100.
