Shelbyville softball No. 9 in this week's SCAI poll

In the penultimate poll of the regular season, Shelbyville is tied for ninth in the Softball Coaches Association of Indiana statewide poll.

Roncalli, the defending state champion, continues its grip on the top spot in Class 4A.

Whiteland suffered its first loss of the season, 1-0 to Center Grove, this past week and remained No. 2 in the poll ahead of Mooresville, New Palestine, Bedford North Lawrence, Columbus North, Pendleton Heights, Harrison (West Lafayette), Center Grove and Shelbyville.

 

 

Shelbyville and Center Grove are tied for ninth in the poll. The Golden Bears hold wins over Mooresville, New Palestine and Pendleton Heights (twice) but are 0-2 against Whiteland and Columbus North.

Tri-West Hendricks is the No. 1 team in Class 3A.

South Bend St. Joseph’s is No. 2 with Yorktown, Gibson Southern, New Prairie, Chatard, Connersville, Benton Central, Franklin County and Cathedral rounding out the top 10.

Shelbyville closes out its regular-season schedule Thursday at Cathedral.

Pioneer is still No. 1 in Class 2A with Sullivan, Hebron, Union County, South Vermillion, North Posey, Boone Grove, Illiana Christian, Eastside and Madison-Grant in the top 10.

Tecumseh has been the top-ranked team in Class A all season.

Hauser is up to No. 2 ahead of Caston, Clay City, Rising Sun, West Washington, Rossville, West Central, Barr-Reeve and South Central (Union Mills).

Sectional tournaments begin next week.
