Collegiate Update: Louisville softball season ends at ACC Tournament

The University of Louisville softball season came to an end with a 2-0 loss to Syracuse on May 11 in the opening game of the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Angel Jasso’s two-out, two-run home run in the third inning proved enough for Syracuse to advance in the tournament.

 

 

Louisville did not have a hit off Syracuse starting pitcher Ariana Adams until the sixth inning and had a scoring opportunity in the seventh but could not extend the game.

Shelbyville graduate Hannah File went 0-for-3 for Louisville, who finished the season with a 27-25 record.

Here is a look at other Shelby County graduates competing at the collegiate level.

 

 

TeAnn Bringle

The Shelbyville graduate had a pinch hit single for Indiana State University on May 11 in a 9-5 win over Valparaiso in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament in Springfield, Missouri.

The Sycamores’ season ended on May 12 with a 4-2 loss to Illinois State.

Indiana State finished the season with a 25-27 record.

 

 

Addisenn Weaver

The Shelbyville graduate went 1-for-4 with a run batted in on May 11 in Valparaiso’s 9-5 loss to Indiana State in the MVC Tournament.

The Beacons ended the season with a 14-33 record.

 

 

Katie Mathies

The Shelbyville graduate went 1-for-1 in her only plate appearance for DePauw University Friday in an 11-2 loss to Berry in the NCAA DIII regional tournament in Greencastle, Indiana.

DePauw stayed alive with a 3-2 win over Piedmont Saturday.

On Sunday, the Tigers’ season ended with a 5-4 loss to Hiram. Mathies went 1-for-2 with a stolen base and run batted in.

DePauw finished 35-11 this season.

 

 

Damon Lux

The Shelbyville graduate went 1-for-4 for Duke University Saturday in a 13-5 loss to North Carolina State.

The Blue Devils lost 5-3 Friday but captured Sunday’s win, 7-4.

On Tuesday, Duke defeated Davidson, 11-2. Lux went 0-for-1 at the plate.

Duke is 22-29 this season.

 

 

Madisen Hinderliter

The Shelbyville graduate finished 13th in the women’s hammer throw Saturday for St. Francis (Ind.) at the St. Francis Fighting Chance Meet in Joliet, Illinois.

Hinderliter’s best attempt was 131 feet, 10 inches.

 

 

Jill Anspaugh

The Shelbyville graduate place 13th in the 5,000 meters for Franklin College at the St. Francis Fighting Chance Meet in Illinois. Anspaugh crossed the finish line in 21:00.

 

 

Taylor Tatlock

The Southwestern graduated produced a pair of personal bests for Franklin College Saturday in the Rio Grande Last Chance Meet in Rio Grande, Ohio.

Tatlock won the javelin with a throw of 37.66 meters. She finished second in the discus at 39.04 meters.

 

 

Zaleeya Martin

The Shelbyville graduate finished second in the 200 meters (26.04) and seventh in the 100 (12.59) Wednesday for Hanover College in the Emory Final Qualifier in Atlanta, Georgia.
