Triton Central rolls into softball sectional championship game with win over Scecina

Triton Central opened the 2022 softball season with an 18-1 loss to Eastern Hancock on April 5.

The Tigers will seek a better outcome today in the Class 2A, Sectional 42 championship game when they again face the host Royals.

On Tuesday, Triton Central (11-9) pounded out 17 hits, including nine doubles, to cruise past Scecina, 15-3, in the sectional semifinal round.

Allison Raquet led the offensive explosion with three doubles and six runs batted it.

Lillian Fillippinie had two doubles and a home run and Jayda McKee went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs.

Brylie Couch limited the Crusaders to two hits and notched nine strikeouts in the pitcher’s circle.

Cierra Lathrop took the loss for Scecina (6-10).

Lilly Cunagin had a double and two RBIs.

In the other semifinal Tuesday, Eastern Hancock improved to 19-4-1 this season with an 11-0 victory over Heritage Christian (12-13).

The Royals reached the semifinal round with a 21-3 victory Monday over Knightstown (14-13).
