Triton Central baseball's season ends with loss at Scecina

Indianapolis Scecina got a solo home run from D.J. Mendez to lead off the bottom of the first inning and never trailed Wednesday in an 11-1 Class 2A, Sectional 42 win over Triton Central.

Mendez had three hits, scored two runs and drove in three to lead the Crusaders (13-10).

Aidan Ray pitched a five-inning complete game, allowing two hits while striking out 10. Ray also had two hits and drove in a run.

Luke Soultz and Jacob Smith each had two RBIs.

Hunter May took the loss for Triton Central (11-12).

The Tigers’ only run came in the fourth inning when Aaron Shircliff and Nick Riggins walked and Mathew Shircliff doubled.

With the win, Scecina advanced to Saturday’s semifinal round to face Eastern Hancock (6-20).

The other semifinal round game at the Scecina Sectional pits Knightstown (7-13) against Heritage Christian (14-7).
