Lutheran shuts out Morristown in Sectional 59 championship game

Two Indianapolis Lutheran pitchers limited Morristown to three hits Saturday in a 13-0 victory in the Class A, Sectional 59 championship game.

Brooklyn Barger and Maddie Geminden combined for five innings pitched, three hits allowed while striking out four.

The Saints (11-14) used an 8-run second inning to take a 9-0 lead over the Yellow Jackets (10-11).

Ellie DeChristopher had two hits and four runs batted in. Taylor Gasvoda finished with three hits, two runs scored and three RBIs.

Rhylee Moran took the loss for Morristown. The junior allowed 11 hits and six walks while striking out two.

Moran had two of Morristown’s three hits.

With the sectional win, Lutheran will advance to a one-game regional Tuesday at Class A, No. 2 Hauser (22-4-1).
