Prep Report: Golden Bears score road victory at Rushville

Behind 23 points from Kylee Edwards and 15 points from Abby Brenner, Shelbyville earned its first win over Rushville since Dec. 30, 2006.

With a 55-42 victory at Memorial Gymnasium Tuesday in Rushville, the Golden Bears improved to 12-6 and secured their first winning season since 2016.

Shelbyville led after each quarter to drop the Lions to 9-11 this season.

Shelbyville won the junior varsity game, 37-25, to improve to 12-3. Hannah Baker led the Golden Bears with 14 points. Ellie Keller had 10.

The Golden Bears host Mt. Vernon (12-5) Saturday afternoon.

Girls basketball

Triton Central 56, New Palestine 48

At Fairland, four different Tigers scored in double digits to secure the win over the Dragons (8-9).

Maryrose Felling scored a team-high 15 points to lead Class 2A, No. 13 Triton Central (14-3) to its 12th-straight victory.

Hallie Schweitzer finished with 14, Brooklyn Bailey had 11 and Lizzie Graham added 10 in the win.

The Tigers led 25-23 at halftime and answered any challenge from the Dragons in the second half.

Isabelle Gizzi led New Palestine with 23 points. Vivian Miller had 12.

Triton Central will put its win streak on the line Thursday at Kokomo (7-10).

North Decatur 53, Morristown 25

At North Decatur, the host Chargers (13-5, 3-0 Mid-Hoosier Conference) led 27-19 at halftime then outscored the Yellow Jackets 21-5 in the third quarter to pull away.

Danika Rutledge led Morristown (6-10, 2-2 MHC) with 12 points, four rebounds and three steals. Raegan Kleine had 11 points, six rebounds and four steals.

On Monday, Morristown defeated Southwestern, 60-27.

Kleine had a team-high 19 points and added six rebounds and six assists. Sara Essex finished with 12 points and two rebounds.

Southwestern dropped to 3-13.

Morristown continues a busy week Thursday against Beech Grove (8-7).
