Prep Report: Kleine breaks Morristown record in win over Beech Grove

In one of its more consistent performances of the season, Morristown steadily pulled away from Beech Grove Thursday for a 53-22 victory.

Raegan Kleine scored 10 points, grabbed five rebounds and added three assists and five steals. Now with 226 career steals, Kleine became the program’s career steals leader.

Danika Rutledge finished with a game-high 19 points and six rebounds to help Morristown improve to 7-10 after starting the season 0-6.

The Yellow Jackets led 10-4 after one quarter and 25-9 at halftime.

Mylee Boling led Beech Grove (8-8) with 15 points, nine rebounds and four steals.

Morristown will play its fourth game of the week Saturday against Edinburgh (6-12).

In other girls basketball games Thursday:

North Decatur 57, Southwestern 25

At Southwestern, Ella Kunz had 18 points and Madi Allen added 15 to lead the visiting Chargers (14-5).

North Decatur led 14-5 after one quarter and 21-8 at halftime.

McKinley Correll topped Southwestern (3-14) with 10 points.

North Decatur won the junior varsity game, 37-23. Katelynn Coffman led Southwestern with nine points.

The Spartans travel to Jac-Cen-Del (8-10), a potential sectional opponent, tonight.

South Decatur 60, Waldron 35

At South Decatur, the host Cougars had three players score in double figures to defeat the Mohawks.

Kiley Best led all scorers with 18 points. Makayla Somers and Molly Eden each finished with 10.

Emerson Lindsey hit a pair of three-pointers and led Waldron (4-14) with 10 points. Alivia Fischer finished with nine.

Waldron hosts Class 2A, No. 9 Eastern Hancock (15-3) Saturday.
