Prep Report: Tigers secure ICC championship with win over Beech Grove

Class 2A, No. 13 Triton Central secured the Indiana Crossroads Conference championship Thursday with a 56-20 victory over Beech Grove.

The win improved the Tigers to 18-4 overall and 7-0 against ICC opponents.

Senior Lizzie Graham finished with 18 points in her final regular-season game on her home court. With two made three-pointers in the game, Graham became the program’s career leader for 3s made.

Fellow senior Hallie Schweitzer had 13 points.

Freshman Maryrose Felling also scored 13 and junior Brooklyn Bailey finished with 12.

Triton Central led 26-16 at halftime then held the Hornets scoreless in the third quarter to expand the lead to 38-16.

Mylee Boiling led Beech Grove (9-12, 2-5 ICC) with 11 points.

Triton Central opens the postseason Tuesday against 2A No. 7 Eastern Hancock (19-3) in Fairland. The Royals defeated Triton Central, 56-34, on Nov. 12.

In other girls basketball games Thursday:

Morristown 33, Indianapolis Lutheran 24

At Lutheran, the visiting Yellow Jackets closed out the regular season on a six-game win streak.

Danika Rutledge led Morristown (12-10) with 18 points, nine rebounds and two steals. Raegan Kleine had 11 points and seven steals.

Lutheran (5-17) closed the season on a seven-game losing streak.

Morristown’s postseason debut is Wednesday at Southwestern High School against Edinburgh (6-17). The Yellow Jackets defeated the Lancers, 37-16 on Jan. 14.

Milan 57, Waldron 46

At Milan, Emma Voss and Kaiya Rinear combined for 44 points to lead the Indians to the win.

Voss scored a game-high 24 points, including 9 of 11 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter, to improve Milan to 4-18 this season.

Emerson Lindsey hit three 3s to lead Waldron (5-17) with 14 points. Josee Larrison finished with 11 and Alyssa Benson had 10.

Waldron begins the postseason Tuesday at Southwestern High School against Jac-Cen-Del (12-11). The Mohawks lost at Jac-Cen-Del on Dec. 6, 47-33.

Southwestern 54, Greenwood Christian 30

At Southwestern, Cy Stockdale, Tanna Tatlock and Emma Isgrigg combined to hit nine 3s to lead the Spartans (6-16) to the win.

Tatlock finished with a game-high 17 points, including hitting a pair of 3s in the fourth quarter.

Stockdale had four 3s and finished with 14 points.

Sydney Waldron topped Greenwood Christian (3-18) with 15 points.

The Spartans received the bye and are the hosts for Class A, Sectional 60. They will face the winner of the Waldron and Jac-Cen-Del quarterfinal game Tuesday.
