Shelby County offered a pair of helping hands to hurricane victims in the New Orleans area. 

Emergency Management director Ryan Hansome reported for a shift there with Indiana USAR Task Force #1.

Hansome says they quickly learned that the City of New Orleans had issues following the storm but it was the surrounding parishes that were hardest hit.

Hansome says they aren’t exactly sure how long they will be on the road once deployed.  However, they depart from home ready to sustain themselves for awhile.
