Richard F. “Dick” McVey, 94, of Waldron passed away Friday, March 29, 2019 at Aperion Care of Waldron.

He was born January 24, 1925, in Shelby County. He married Ann Neeb, and she survives.

In addition to Ann, Dick is survived by his daughter-in-law, Rebecca Jo “Becky Jo” (Aulby) McVey of St. Paul; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard Max McVey; and several brothers and sisters.

He was graduated in 1943 from Waldron High School.

Dick was a member of Waldron Baptist Church.

He was formerly a farmer, owned a gas station in Waldron, and was custodian at the Waldron High School.  Dick was also a former member of the Waldron Volunteer Fire Department, where he had served as chief.

He participated in Future Farmers of America with his son.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Waldron Baptist Church, 112 Grant St. in Waldron.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church, with Pastor Jason Beasley officiating.

Inurnment will be at Van Pelt Cemetery at a later date.

Services have been entrusted to Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 819 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.
