Mary Elizabeth 'Libby' Gallagher, 88, Shelbyville

Mary Elizabeth ‘Libby’ Gallagher, 88, of Shelbyville passed away Sunday, April 12, 2020 at Morristown Manor.

  

She was born March 8, 1932 in Shelbyville to Flavia Moore and Lelia (Foglesong) Moore.

  

Libby is survived by her daughter, Ann Gallagher of Indianapolis, her son, Kevin Kent Gallagher of Fort Collins, CO, her son, David Lee Gallagher of Indianapolis, her daughter, Beth Gallagher-Keele of Lincoln NE, her son, Patrick Moore Gallagher of Shelbyville, her son, Father John Peter Gallagher, of French Lick, IN, her son, R. T. Gallagher of Crane, IN, her daughter, Kathryn Gallagher of Omaha, NE, 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

  

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, David Kent Gallagher, and her son, Brian Victor Gallagher,

  

She retired from medical records at Major Hospital after 20 years of service.

 

Libby was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and was an Oblate of St. Benedict.

 

She loved her family, especially her grandchildren.  She never met a stranger.  Libby loved telling bad knock-knock jokes.

 

A private family visitation will be held Thursday, April 16, 2020 from 11 a.m. to Noon at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN 46176.  Public graveside services will follow at noon at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with Father Peter Gallagher officiating.

 

COVID-19 guidelines must be followed.  If you get out of your car, please remain 6 feet apart.  You are welcome to remain in your vehicle if you choose. 

 

A public Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church as soon as the COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
